I in the same situation, I have a pair of radio's but no license yet. I was told that gmrs channel 4 is ok to use without a license from my radio.

 

With all the bull shit going on in the us right now the last thing I am concerned with is a beofang radio license.

How we going to communicate during Red Dawn if we don’t have a license bro? You NEED this thing lol

I have the CHIRP software and programming cable for the Baofengs. I’d be willing to program them for everyone or put together a spreadsheet with the frequencies that you can import into CHIRP if the interest is there.

On the radio topic... rugged is having a sweet sale on their site through the end of the day. Called yesterday and ordered a nice little 60w for chasing. Good radio for a great price if anyone wants to hard mount one.

 

How's the battery life on those hand helds?
Anyone have the 3rd gen of them with the bigger battery?

 

With the extended battery it'll last you a couple days if you leave it on all the time. Last about a week of you remember to turn it off at night

 

Just a Quick question for everyone. Up until just recently while I was driving, if I got a Text message it would display on my radio and I could select an option for it to read the text to me. Well I just noticed that is not happening anymore and yes I understand the dangers around texting and driving, I never reply to a Text while driving, but my wife will take my phone and do it for me. Did Toyota change something? When I bought the Truck this is one thing it had to have for me, hands free phone and incoming Texts.

 

did you update your iphone? My friend's quit shortly after installing the new ios. I told him to update his radio firmware / software/ wahteverware & then re select that option. IDK if he ever did.

I couldn't do that shit though man, I don't like people all up in my business.

 

I got the cigarette charger wile in the truck and battery for walking around never had any issues on the battery.

Get the 8watt version. It has better range than the 4watt. Check eBay you can get a package deal with longer antenna charger hand piece.

I have the Samsung 5G and I dont remember. So you can update the radio firmware? Will need to look into this, I have 9300 miles, maybe I will have service people look into this in about 2 weeks. I put 400 miles per week on my truck, I do drive a lot.
