I’ll make up a diagram this evening and post it up with more details. I had to figure it out myself but this is the basic description. First is don’t cut the yellow loop, that tells the evo one manual trans. mode. Then you’ll need to program the ready mode option (prevents starting in gear), then there is a wire on the evo one that provides a ground output at startup which needs a relay to change it to positive and then that connects to the clutch start system, I connected at the harness on the clutch start cancel switch.

It's a brilliant marketing strategy where they don't tell you where or who to buy from.

Apparently you know Fortin's system better than they do. Can you give us some more direction on your working setup?

Is the ground wire you're talking about in the main power connector or on the red bypass relay connector with the TPMS wires?

What kind of relay did you use?

Can you give us the pin location to the wire you tapped into on the Clutch Start Cancel button?

    Thanks in advance!

Super-interested in a remote start solution for a manual transmission 2018 model, that doesn't involve butchering the factory harness and will prevent starting the truck if it is in gear. Please post details.

    OK, here it is:
To install the Fortin EVO One on a MT Tacoma, follow Fortin's directions except for don't cut the yellow loop wire on the EVO One, that tells the EVO One it's a manual transmission. Then you need to pick a ready mode activation method, Fortin describes both options in the users manual. The default option 33.1 requires a remote with a start button, so if your using the 3x lock on the OEM remote you need to change the ready mode option to 33.2, this can be done with the Fortin Flash Link. With option 33.2 automatic activation of ready mode, you have to park in neutral, apply the hand brake, release the foot brake, remove the key (engine will keep running) and exit the vehicle, the engine will stop when you close the door. Your truck is now ready to remote start, if you open a door or the hood ready mode will cancel, this is so you can't start the truck in gear. What Fortin left out of the directions is that you must use a relay to bypass the clutch start system or it will not crank. To do this the EVO One has a starter output wire in the 20 pin white connector pin A5, I used a 5 pin relay since I had some, but a 4 pin is all you need. Battery power connects to the relay coil and pin 30, then white wire from EVO One pin A5 goes to the other side of the relay coil and relay pin 87 goes to clutch start cancel switch connector C7 pin 4. Like this:

    EvoOneMT.jpg

That way when the EVO One turns on the ignition, it also sends a pulse via your relay that tells the truck the clutch pedal or the clutch start cancel button was pressed and it will crank on command from the EVO One.

With @Pickupman2007's relay method, I believe this is a solid option. Install takes some time to do it on your own but can be super clean. I plan on making an install guide with all the information needed to successfully install the Evo One on a Manual 3rd Gen. I made the mistake of thinking Fortin's 3x Lock feature worked on all 3rd Gen's but that's a push-to-start feature only for our automatic friends. We require purchasing an extra RF kit. Select all brands to list non-Fortin ones too...https://fortin.ca/en/technology/rf_kits.html

You can see all the differences at https://fortin.ca/en/ just enter Make, Year, Model, and Trim and it will show you Evo One vs. Evo All

Not sure it is that clean. You need to tap into the factory harness in a lot of places, with T-taps or similar. I am investigating whether I can make my own harness so that the system can be removed without a trace.

I don't have my truck yet, but according to the brochure it will have pushbutton start.

The remote start shutting off when you open the door is the dumbest feature ever

Mine works with the 3x lock. Not sure about the 2018s but pretty sure all 2016-17 manual trans are H-Key.

I have the remote start for 2017 TRD OR M/T

FT-DC3-S, ADS-THR-TL5 from compustar.. There's another component and I can't remember the name, but it looks like an old school CF drive that allows you to program the H-key. I also added the Drone Mobile with a yearly basic subscription so I don't have to worry about range.. like those sudden, oh shit, did i lock the doors?

In order to work you have to put it reservation mode. Park the truck, put it in neutral, pull e-brake, let go of clutch and break, remove the key. When removed, the car stays on and you can now exit the truck. When the last door closes the engine will shut off in about 5 seconds then lock the doors.
Now you can remote start with the key by pressing the lock button 3 times or using the drone mobile app.

It's not perfect though. I have one annoyance with it and when you get out of the car with the key in the ignition.. for example i'm trying to put the car seat in the back or whatever, the truck will lock the doors then 5 - 10 seconds later it will unlock, wait 30 seconds, lock, wait 5 - 10 seconds, unlock... fucking annoying.

The shop has been in my car more times than I would like so i'm going to live with this annoyance. Cost me $600

I was trying to get real fancy by removing the center console to put contacts on each shift gate that is wired to the brain unit so that if it's in gear, it will not activate engine start. That way I can avoid having to do my reservation mode ritual with the ebrake, clutch, brake and keys.. However, i don't know how to do it with the wiring and programming.. it's nearly impossible to get support from compustar unless you're an installer.
