    Afternoon all:
3 of us hit the river yesterday, we managed to catch 20 walleye but only 2 were legal! :(
We tried something new that's been around for years, we jigged nothing but blade baits and they seemed to work pretty well. Now it looks like I need to stock another tackle box with them!

I cleaned the pond filter today, hopefully the last time it needs it before spring. I leave the filter box in place with all the guts removed, so the UV light keeps working away nuking bad little bugs and algae and whatnot. Had to replace the !@#$%^&* GFCI outlet *again*. They sure don't make them like they used to.

And the GFCI outlets cost twice as much as they used to. Why? Because the regulation wizards keep adding additional requirements!!

The current GFCI's won't "energize" if they were wired incorrectly ..... government saving you from yourself.

    :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

I may have to try this approach. Usually I do another filter clean then a switch over to an in pond filter for the winter effectively turning off the waterfall for the winter. I run two aerators and a floating hot spot to keep an open hole in the ice if the pond freezes over.

I had to replace the GFI again but this time I installed a taller pole and placed it higher off the ground and in a better receptacle.

I got a floating heater but never used it. I keep the waterfall going which takes care of aeration etc. So far anyway! 24 years and counting.

I used to completely remove the external filter and replace it with a straight pipe but the algae goes nuts without the UV. A couple of years ago I tried leaving the empty filter can w/light and it was okay. My filter is in a box in the ground so I haven't had any freezing issues. Colder climate might not be as friendly to the idea.

    morning all:
Went up to the range last night to scrounge for brass, found a bunch of 5.56, 30-06, 270, and a few .243. Looked in the one can and there was a Bushnell binocular, another can had the case. Figured WTH, take them home check them out, and chuck them if no good, they looked to be pretty new.
Checked them out and nothing was clear at all, focused the eyepiece and they cleared right up! Bet whoever had them didn't know enough to focus the eyepiece, thought that the magnification was the only adjustment on them, and couldn't see for crap when looking through them.
Now I have another set of binoculars that I don't need!

Will add, first day of buck season here in Pa, and extended bear also where I live.
Although I wish I were out for buck, I'm glad I got one in the bow season.
Maybe should do like A LOT of others do, don't tag the first one and keep hunting!

Good morning everyone. Took the dirt bike out yesterday for a short 15 minute ride. Traction was good with all the rain we've had here in Kalifornia. Got my ride in mid morning before it started in raining again. Just barely. Snuck in a backpacking trip last week with Repo, nothing special, just out to be out.

Ebay is your friend or does your younger fishing buddy need the binoculars?

I have never sold anything on Ebay Tom, only keep buying more stuff!
I could give them to my young buddy, but he has too much stuff already! Probably will ask him if he wants them, the price is right or he could put them out at a yard sale.

    Morning All. :hattip:

So sorry for the loss of your friend Gary. It's always hard saying good bye. But be at peace knowing he is at peace and fishing in clear water. for you and his family.

Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving and all are safe. I had a good weekend with great weather and good shopping. Wife wanted a new TV for the bedroom so she could watch TV when I want to watch my shows so we ended up getting a 60" Sony for her at Best Buy. Now I have to set it up . She wants it on the wall, I want to just put it on her dresser. we'll see who wins out(I think I already know)..She got the TV and I got 3 pair of jeans at Wally World.

Saw a lot of deer road kill on the way up and lots of deer out and about feeding before opening gun season here in PA. There was a bear that got hit on I 80 eastbound before I 81. Didn't look to be an adult. Shame so many are hit each year. Now my fun begins, got the Christmas tree out to set it up and half of the string of pre-lit lights on the lower section are out :annoyed::annoyed:. Took a known good bulb and replaced all the bulbs with it, found one bad bulb(tip was broken off bulb) but still no lights . Checked all the wiring and after hours of pulling wires and bulbs and my hair, bought another set of lights and plan on putting them on today. HATE pre lit trees:sawzall:. Hope this remedies my problem.

    Have a good day all.

My wife fished someone else's prelit tree out of the trash a few years ago. Naturally it had lights out. She patiently found and fixed the lighting problem, and we used the tree that year. Next year, lights out again. She patiently worked at it again but no love this time. So she cut all of the prelit lights off! and now we use strings just like before. We're seriously considering an LED prelit tree next year. The LED colors have gotten pretty good, and they don't burn out.
