This is going to be a brutal road trip. Injuries are hurting Anaheim too much right now.

 

So far it sounds like 2-4 weeks for Murray. 1 upside is getting a good look at Jarry and Desmith. Also, this business about shopping Cole is weird. Heard a bunch of rumors based on that (RNH, Pacc, Staal). Also Something with Toronto being interested. Dunno how true that is @Sterdog @maxpower29

 

I've read that the Leafs are interested but that the Pens want a stupid high price for him. They aren't getting one of the kids out of Toronto for Cole, which I think is the crack that the Pens management is trying to peddle.

I did hear a rumor that the Pens might be willing to part with picks though so who knows. Again though the Shanaplan has always been to keep Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Hyman, Kadri, Rielly, Gardner, and Brown so I doubt a trade will happen unless the Pens are willing to take JVR. Honestly, I'd be happy if the Pens took Gardner. He looks like shit as a defenseman this year.

 

Not sure if the million and one Oil fans on here caught it but the Oilers had another "why we suck," press conference this morning only this time the GM was the star lol.

 

I find it funny that RNH is 1 of the hot rumors surrounding Cole. Wouldn't that deal only add into their issue, like the Hall trade? Of course there could be something else wrapped into that like perhaps Pens somehow including Sprong or something. I would hate that, btw but if somehow that was part of the deal then Oil could sure up that D and get a scoring prospect. Not sure if RNH solves all of the Pens issues though either, but it would certainly add to the secondary scoring and helps spread that talent around a little bitter from top to bottom, if you want to go that route (ala HBK etc).

I think the Oil overachieved a bit (which possibly way over-hyped their expectations coming into the year) and lost some secondary scoring and are feeling the effects. I said all of last year, they ran Talbot way too much and he masked some of their problems. Unrealistic to expect that, this year has sort of crashed down a bit on that aspect. Still should've been on Vezina ballot last year though, IMO lol. Not saying they can't turn it around though.

 

Yeah, the Oil have a lot of holes:

• Weak bottom 6 forwards.
• Weak defense in the 2-6 slots.
• Goaltending dropping off (Talbot is now barely a .900 goalie).
• Zero consistency in their system from game to game.

So basically the only thing going right for the Oilers is their top 6, and right is not the right word. It's more like if everyone got a report card right now based on their capabilities the top 6 would mostly get C grades and the rest of the team would be D's and F's. I'm not sure how you fix the issues either, a lot of players on that roster have to look at themselves and figure out what they need to do to play at their own capable level.

 

The rumour mill has started up again that the Sens are for sale.

Yeah, not sure about it since theres nothing concrete. Melnyk has been getting pressured quite a bit though the last few years.
