I can see that, I just think people crying for a bigger playoff's should realize the last couple weeks of been playoff games. Just like this weekend is basically the second round.

I think they feel Conference winners are most important, and thats why I can see them getting in ahead of Alabama. Do I think they are the better team? no, but you cannot lose this late in the season, you just cant. If you want it, you have to win.

I agree tho, there chance is greater if OSU wins and Oklahoma loses. If only one of those happens I do not see them getting in. It also depends on where they fall tonight in the rankings.

Those points were my thoughts... it's a chance, but we never know how that committee will vote.

Probably the "he/she coached under Saban so they must be the second greatest coach in the world" assumption...

FIRST OF ALL - Let me say that I'm a realistic Alabama fan and I don't think that Alabama necessarily DESERVES to be in the playoffs. We had our shot in the IB. We lost. That's why they play the games. Yadda, yadda yadda.

That being said, I am a fan, and as such, I would love to see dominoes fall in such a way that Alabama somehow falls back-asswards into a spot.

Easy there, tiger. I has nothing to do with hating auburn. I don't think it will have much of an impact at all on the committee's decision, BUT if there's even a chance that the committee might think "well, Alabama already had a shot at auburn and lost" and that's what put's tOSU in over Alabama, I want to avoid it.

Agreed. The winner of the SECC is in for sure. And I also agree that there's VERY LITTLE chance that the winner has an impact on the committee's decision re: Alabama. (See above.)

There's also a decent chance that auburn winning would be better for Bama... b/c at that point Bama's only loss would be to a playoff-bound team. I could very well be pulling for the wrong team!

But ultimately it probably doesn't matter at all.

Tell that to last year's Penn State program... They were a 2-loss B1G champ, who beat Wisconsin in the conference championship game. They didn't get into the playoffs. The team that did... Ohio State, a team that didn't make the conference championship and a team that Penn State BEAT earlier in the season.

Now JUST IMAGINE the shitstorm that would ensue if that happened in the SEC. We have a very similar scenario now... A 2-loss auburn could win the SEC, and there's a 1-loss Alabama team sitting in the conference having not played in the conf. championship game.

Don't get me wrong... There is NO WAY that Alabama goes ahead of SECC auburn.

BUT, I don't necessarily think that 2-loss conference champion tOSU is in if they beat Wisconsin. I think there's a CHANCE that the committee puts 1-loss Alabama in over a 2-loss B1G Champ tOSu (who has blowout losses to Oklahoma and Iowa).

He's coached several years under Saban, at Bama. Left went to Fsu as their DC and won a national there, left, and was the D.C. For UGA for a year, during the debacle that was Richts last year, and then returned to bama as their DC when Smart left. Total of three national titles as DC and position coach. I liked him, when he was at UGA.

Sorry... I was being sarcastic there... just seems anyone that worked for Saban at some point is the next greatest thing for whatever reason.

True. That goes against my argument since Alabama is the tOSU of this year, EXCEPT that this time the 2-loss conf. champ getting left out happens to be tOSU, who is the team that got whomped last year.

there is no way to know what the committee is going to think/do. It's fun to talk about, but I'm really not going to worry about it until some of these things happen. If (somehow) TCU and/or tOSU win, I'll be pretty anxious between Saturday and the selection show.

The 2016 Ohio State team actually had a resume....which the 2017 Alabama team does not.

Ohio state was 3-1 vs top 10 teams, while Alabama is 0-1 vs top 10

    No argument there.

This year they're 1-1, but also have a blowout loss to a non-top25 team. If they beat Wisconsin they'll be 2-1.

I'm not saying it'll happen. I'm saying that there's only a chance if tOSU wins, b/c Wisconsin is in if they do.

    I hate this argument...

So, what if, FSU beats Bama (while not losing their QB) - might they be a top 10 team? If so, would that loss be better than a win against a non-25 team??

And... LSU was moving up... Bama kicked them back down the list. What if LSU wins? They get to the top 10 - is that loss better than kicking LSU back down?

It's really hard to compare crud like that as if the tables had turned on any team in that position, you can make the argument the other direction. Where they end up and where they started is no indication of how they played the day of the game.

If FSU does not lose their QB, Bama is 1-1... if LSU didn't go on a slide early in the season... it's 2-1.

You can't use that unless you want it turned against you.

My issue... (from the SEC side) UGA and Bama had to show up every game and take the other guys best shot (Clemson too). They beat everyone they were "supposed to" and lost to one team that everyone said would be a close game.

One game... so, how about all those 2 loss teams that lost one game to someone they weren't supposed to??

There is my issue w/ OSU and any other 2 loss team that makes it in. That's what I get frustrated by when people say "it was a quality loss/win".

Really depends on where Alabama falls and where Ohio state and Wisconsin falls.

If Ohio state falls at #7 and Wisconsin is at #2 or #3 you would think Ohio State would jump to at LEAST #4. And also depends on where Alabama falls, what if they end up being #6?
