When I contacted a dealer I used twice in the past, I gave them my criteria. They found one at another dealer and threw a price at me.

I asked what the VIN was, and they said they didn't have access to it.
I called BS on that, and said I will never make a deal without a VIN. So, I also asked where it was. Again, they didn't have access to that either.

I then called them out on their lies by saying, that obviously it exists otherwise they wouldn't try to sell it to me. Followed by, I will just contact another dealer and see if they can "find" this vehicle. Not even 3 minutes goes by and up pops a window sticker looking page in my email.

    Boom!

I have a VIN now. Googled that VIN and found what dealer it was at, 3 hrs away. Went ahead and contacted two more local to me dealers with this VIN and gave them my OTD price if they could secure it for me.

For the next hour straight, I was bouncing OTD numbers back and forth between the different dealers until they started dropping out.

In the end, the first dealer I contacted reached and slightly surpassed my purchase button of $33500, and within an hour I was 40 mins from hime signing papers. Next morning my truck was trailered the 3hrs to my signing dealer so that I got it with only 5 miles on the odometer.

Being a Superwhite '17 DCSB OR 6MT with nothing more than the all weather floor mats/sill plates, and the tow package, it is kind of a unicorn in the PNW. At the time (end of Oct 17), it was the only one available around Oregon/Washington/Idaho that matched exactly what I wanted.

Moral of the story here is that you can squeeze info from a dealer with simple leverage, and keep squeezing money if you play the dealers against each other with a VIN number.

Dealers install Pro Grilles as an add on and inflate the price.

That's good to know b/c the dealer is telling me that the '17 and '18's are not the same. I attempted to explain that the '17 Pro grill has a boxed out section that appears to be able to accommodate the sensor. They said that's not the case. I showed them a picture of the of the '17 and '18 Pro grills, and they appeared to look the same to me. They seemed very confused and claimed to have no part number for the new '18 Pro grill. I'm clearly not talking to the right parts person at the dealer.

So, if I understand you correctly, I could order '17 Pro parts and put them on an '18 OR?

    Thanks,

The dealer added it before I bought it. I'm out of town without my truck so when I get back in a few days I'll see if the paperwork has the part number of the grill. I didn't look at it super closely but nothing looks different or modified to me.

Do you know if it's a '17 or '18 Pro grill by chance, b/c clearly it can be done.

I get the filling the Cements are going to be everywhere by mid year.

They certainly appear to be the same. Maybe Jordan @Titus_Will_Toyota can chime in here and tell us if there is a new part number or if it is in fact the same.

Yea, me too. At least I put a deposit on one expected to be in end of December or first part of January. I just start asking questions about the truck and the dealer is completely clueless.

is it just me or does the top edge look like its not snapped in correctly? I don't ever remember being able to see the 5 snap in holes on a properly installed grille.
