I was just offered a warranty from Toyota for 7 years 100000 miles, FULL coverage, basically everything you get for one year, being a certified Toyota! Including rental if in shop and hotel (if I’m away from home and something happens, locksmith if locked out of truck plus more. $1800 for zero deductible or $1500 gets $100 deductible. She said it covers EVERYTHING except normal wear and tear. Do you guys think it’s worth it. Only reason I’m thinking it might be is because the truck is supercharged and if anything happens to it I’m covered!

What you are offered is really the difference between the OE warranty and your new numbers. So for example, if the OE was 3/36, your offer is 4/64.

I don't think that particular warranty has to be bought at the selling dealer, it can come from any dealer. And if IIRC it can be bought anytime before the OE warranty expires. So the main advantage of purchase with the vehicle is

    1) you can finance your warranty

    2) the seller gets your money sooner

If I have the 'how does it work' part right, and you insist on extending, I'd wait and shop around a little later.

And I'd never trust what 'she says' w/o reading the document first. 'Cause the terms of what you sign are the rules, not what 'she said'.

Always remember insurance is a business that makes money playing the odds. And you are playing the odds when buying it. But just like Vegas, the odds are in their favor.

I told them not to include it on price of truck and I’d buy it separately when I picked truck up. So at least that way I can read warranty before spending any money on it!

It'll take more time than you want to sit in some finance guys office. Ask them for an advance copy to review. One you can mark up and ask questions from, like 'what if' and 'does this mean'?

Toyota extra care covers a ton of things but not everything, if she is trying to sell it to you that way she either doesn't know the actual coverage or doesn't care to tell you the truth
