Doesn't the truck just stop if it gets to far away from the fob (push start) or do you have a key and ignition?

Yes. Use the actual key in the fob

Start truck. Roll down the window .Step out and close the door. Reach in lock it .Use the one touch window button to roll the window up. When returning take the key out of the fab and manually unlock.

It will run until shutoff once started with the fob present in the push to start. It won't start again however.

I assume this is to prevent the truck from shutting down at 70MPH due to a dead keyfob battery.

It’s really simple you guys. All push start vehicles will continue to run however long and wherever you want without the key fob. However, once you shut the truck off, it will not turn back on. As for locking the door when the truck is still running. Just get out, take the actual key out of the key fob and lock the door. Done. Easy! When you get back just hit unlock and it unlocks the truck.

just a note of caution, the actual key in the fob is meant for emergency/low use as its pretty flimsy. constant use will eventually snap the key. its pretty easy to twist.

At first I thought the was some trick, like locking the doors with the driver exteriordoor handle. But you're talking about using the window switch in the inner drivers door panel right?

No. The Tacoma lacks features even vehicles of half the cost come standard with. I know I'm 2006 that feature was on accords.

A 2015 or 2016 Camry has smart door handles on driver and passenger side, where as the Tacoma only has driver side.

Yes, set yourself for vehicle theft. Unless it’s deactivated by touch of the brake pedal, it’s not worth it IMO.

Smash window, unlock door from inside, drive off.

I've only ever left it running once or twice because of this possibility. Call me paranoid.

Try it... I think if you smash window, the security system might just shut her down...!!

Actually...try it with the window open.... bet you still can't steal your own truck... hehe

    This ^^

If you think a quick (and silent) smash of the glass is going to stop a thief from stealing a $40k vehicle, I got news for ya- it won’t.

    It won't.

Nothing stops you from driving off without the key once it's running.

I feel like that just throws the valets way off since typically they hang keys up and now there's no key ring or anyway to place a tag on the key to ensure only you get your keys back with slip.
