Very interested but don’t have the wiring knowledge. What I do have are a very particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me able to pay for people like you. Anyone in the DFW area ever do this mod? Willing to pay $100 for your labor to do this to my 2015 DCLB ?

I have an aftermarket reverse camera and wiring installed into the factory head unit, the basic touchscreen model. The kit came with a factory interface plug for the headunit that has the camera rca, camera ground, and outgoing camera power line. because my truck was not prewired that appropriate slot on the headunit was empty and I installed the interface plug. I then tapped into the reverse lights 12v line under the drivers kick plate and that “trigger wire” from the tap was inserted into another factory plug on the headunit that was already present. In other words, the 12v line gets powered when in reverse and that triggers the headunit To send the 6v power to the camera. The instructions were clear that the 6v camera is powered from the head unit and the 12v power source is only a trigger to tell the headunit to turn on the camera.

I believe from what I have read that I just need to trick the trigger wire into thinking it has 12v power with a spdt switch and the add a circuit. so in my case, I cut the trigger wire going to the head unit and install that and the fuse tap on t1 or t3, and t2 in my case goes to the head unit to trigger the head unit to operate the camera. Can anyone confirm that I am understanding this correctly? I have seen other threads where this was done on the touchscreen head units for the ‘13-‘15 trucks with the factory wiring and I am somewhat confident the head unit can be tricked because there is no secondary safety measure that won’t allow the camera to operate while moving forward. Just thought I’d ask first rather than after I cause problems.
