Funny thing you ask topper arrives tomorrow. I'm holding off on the tent for a minute even though the tent I want is on sale.. Heading into the holidays I may need to conserve the cash flow..

Seems like more cities are (slowly) embracing cyclists...but it only takes one hostile or inattentive driver to screw you up for life, so it's always going to be a gamble.

Wow, you should totally make the ride at least once...I be you'll be tired, dirty, and grinning from ear to ear once your finished! :D Just make sure you leave a change of clothes and something to clean up with at work the day before you attempt the ride...anything to lighten the load over the miles.

I have actually run into both the Provo and Draper mayors out for an evening ride. Not to mingle with constituents, just because that's what they like to do in their free time.

I'd say under-roof clearance is the deciding factor so I'd say depends on the cap model. I have seen people do it, if that answers your question. I would just be sketched out having a solid glass pane hanging in free space personally. Not sure how robust they are in the up position over bumpy fire roads.

Funny video with bike AND Tacoma content.
"How come everybody's driving the same pickup truck?"
    "It's the law".

"It's the law" was the part that got me when I saw it this weekend. But seriously, Rampage was basically a big tacoma muster.

That and the "did you use your dropper?...WHATTTTTT?????" cuz I have had a friend not know how to use a dropper and didn't know the seat moved (my fault for assuming)

Haha saw this the other day and cracked up on that part. I think toyota should just start including a bike with purchase of taco, or at least a bike rack or bed pad...

My last "test" before I bought my 2nd gen was how my bike looked/fit in the back (I was pedaling through the neighborhood...). Sales guy must have thought I was a lunatic.

This bike has served me well since 1992. I don't like upgrading if things still work.

Anyone got any experiences with a Pivot Mach 429 trail. I’m tossing around the idea of buying one and wanted some feedback. I feel like all the reviews I read are probably company sponsored

Around here Subaru seems #1 at trailhead parking, then Taco. Or Sprinter. I usually ride to the local trails though. It would be nice if Toyota supported IMBA or local trailbuilding.

Here in Utah the tacoma, subaru, and decked out sprinter are def the big 3 at the trailheads and the ski areas. I feel like West<-Colorado this is a pretty safe bet.

Seems TMC is somewhat involved in public lands improvement, but doesn't mention specifics or MTBs...

I went to a mtb event last month, and it seemed like every 3rd car was a Crosstrek. Which is odd to me, as those cars seem tiny. Also, I see a lot of GTI's for some reason too.

I hear ya, but have you tried a modern bike? The advances in braking, geometry, and suspension are amazing.

My bike is almost 5 years old now, and I'm still amazed at what I can do on it vs. my old MTB I rode in the 90's. It was a Univega, btw. Alpina 5.1 with a Rock Shox Quadra 21 on the front, haha. I miss that bike actually, it was a great hunter green color. I wish I still had it to throw some drop bars on it to make it a monstercross.

Damn! If you look closely, mine is an Alpina Univega, but with generic shocks. You make some good points. Perhaps I'll take a look at some modern bikes when I hit up some after Christmas sales. Thanks for the inspiration and the blast from the past!
