I stuck with spring over and new hanger with 14" shock. So hopefully im not dissapointed.

 

why a 14? No way you'll use that with a SOA setup. Coulda stuck with a 12..likely wouldn't use all of that either.

Haha Im serious. Even with custom leafs you'll only cycle 12" tops. Just the limits of the stock geometry.

 

I will be very honest here, this is a bit of a relief to hear this.

It does suck, but as you've discovered yourself, OE alone does not get you outa the woods (pun intended).

Well best I've seen is around 11.5".

Should use limit straps no matter what really with nicer shocks.

Nice rack, looks pretty similar to mine, and similar height - I'm about 8.5" from the bed rails.

hmm. not that i know of personally. There are lots of those guys floating around now. I know there was a guy in Casper that it could be. But he hasn't been active on ExpoP in forever.

Not true. Been plenty of people to blow out joints on 31s. I don't find that argument all that valid.

 

Sorry, I don't agree and I think you are in a bit of denial.

Applies to OE only...

If its a joint failure, its due to poor maintenance. Specifically, too many miles.

If its 35s (or larger) it is due stress on the mounting system because of unsprung wheel weight. You know how it goes, lose one bolt, even if you use loctite on the bolts, then shear #2 and/or #3.

 

I wasn't talking about bolts. As Josh didn't have issues with bolts. His was a joint failure not a bolt failure.

But to talk about the bolts.

As i have experienced 2 bolt failures...and only one of those did i have 35s. And even then, i don't think the bigger tire REALLY made them fail. Do you not remember what i was trying to climb? haha Any Tacoma with any tire trying to go up that would of pinged the bolts. Was a steep uphill climb with a big ole ledge. Of course there was a lot of force put on the bolts. But did the tire really do that? No. I don't think the tire size contibuted to that at all. It was just a lot of stress on 4 loose bolt...well okay 3 loose bolts really.
