stock flex due to recoil? and are the 110 and the axis essentially the same/same stock? they have an axis xp II now and it comes with the accu trigger and I assume that is another reason this one is so cheap since it's the older model. if recoil was the flex issue the .243 would be fine I assume and possibly the .270 and .308 could be fine as they are both noticeably lighter recoil than the 06

@Misplaced Nebraskan wasnt it you that mentioned something about cleaning an engine bay with simple green? IIRC, it was spray it down with simple green, start the engine and let it warm up, kill it and then wash off the simple green with water (not high pressure). Does this sound familiar?

    Simple green works.

It's amazing the uses it has.

This is what Im gathering from a few quick searches...

    1) cool engine
    2) rinse with water
    3) apply simple green [50/50 diluted mix]
    4) let sit for a few minutes
    5) rise and wipe down
    6) apply lite 303 to keep the dust collection minimal

    Head unit. That's it.

I would probably coat it, then start the engine and as it heats up, continue adding Simple Green to keep it wet. Then shut it off and wash it down.

Also, historically, the process I use is:

    Coat with Simple Green.
Drive to "do it yourself" car wash with an automatic bay.
    Open hood while still running.
    Coat with simple green heavily.
    shut off truck.
    Power wash with rinse.
    Inspect.
    Reapply Simple Green where needed
    Rinse.
Run truck through Auto car wash.

Go home, and 4 step the fuck out of it.

I think they were more related to weather and recoil both. Bedding blocks would break, the stock would warp. IIRC in my days on that forum, stock do not interchange except in the double and triple digit model numbers.
The difference in those multi digit models is; double digit has what is called a 3-screw trigger, the triple digit models have the accutrigger.
The wooden stocks aren't affected, but cost more and aren't available in the Axis line.

Btw, anything Savage with "xp" in it only means it has a scope on it when new as a package. It's not even stamped on the gun anywhere.

All I know, whatever engine bay 'cleaner' I used last didn't do shit for mine. Rad hoses are still brown and the plastic parts are still dingy.

But you won't see me in there with a toothbrush either.

Also, i hear if you use ICE COLD water when the engine is hot, it really helps get the gaskets clean....:muscleflexing:

not sure what I said before  but I would only do on a warm, not fully at temp engine. I used to do at operating temp, but now either cool or run for just a few mins to "warm it". Can use a soft bristle brush to lightly scrub too. And plastic bag over fuse panel and alt for peace of mind.

    Here's a good video:
