Is that fully deployed or opened? The closed length is likely much smaller & will mount over your cap without a problem.

Good point Danomite. If I am understanding you right: I just went out and measured and I figure if I can have it over hang the back maybe by about 4 to 5 inches and over the front about 4 to 5 inches and then raise the Baja rack maybe about a half an inch higher than the front I should be good. You're a genius. That's why I love Tacomaworld. Correct me if I'm wrong.

And Nismo, the specs say closed 72".

Don’t know about Rago but here is a shameless plug for @At The Helm — if you are also using BAMF’s antenna bracket the Total Chaos bed stiffeners are not compatible because they use the upper bolts. As an added bonus the ATH stiffeners have a bottle opener too....

I have the CVT Mt Rainier, also 72" long with the shortbed. I started with splitting the difference but moved it back a bit. I don't have a good side shot but it is high enough, it does not touch the cab or antenna and the rear overhang still allows the door to open and the tent rods to be used for the tent window.

Just so you know part number 2888 specifically states "For Use w/Rooftop Tent [PN2783]" which is the regular tent, not the XL. Don't want you pulling the trigger on it and realizing you bought the wrong part.

That's weird because on the website for Smittybilt it says part 2788 is for the regular tent and then like I said I was able to source information that said 2888 was for the XL.

I tried multiple other sites and they all say the same thing about made for tent 2783. Kinda odd that Smittybilt doesn't even have it on their site. But I mean if the information you found says it fits, then go for it.

im 260 but im also a gigantor. Last trip i attempted to double the mattress as i have an extra one but it wouldnt close even though it was extremely comfortable. I know some have added a slimmer memory foam topper on top but after seeing how mine didnt want to close im not even sure how they get theirs shut.

Why do you think I listed @At The Helm first? I love his products and no one can top dual bottle openers!

A few audio upgrades, tinted windows, remote start because it f'n hot in Texas! 6in Fabtech DB lift, 17x9 Fuel Trophy wheels, 315/70/17 Duratracs,BAMF 80in sliders w/kickout, Prinsu cab rack w/30in Heretic light bar, custom bedside decals, custom hi-lift jack brackets, US Offroad front bumper w/winch, bed rack with RTT, CB, Short wave base station, Ultra gauge, color matched grille surround, an ungodly amount of recover gear, ARB fridge, hood struts, RotoPax, traction pads.
You could also look at a poly bushing to sit between the rack and the tent mounting rails. I believe this may help alleviate the flexing issue. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

id just go get a 1/2" or 1" thick topper and throw it on to be honest.

But i hear ya, im 6'8" 260 so laying on my side typically creates hip pain. I have yet to get it in the RTT though.
