3.4L TRD Supercharger rebuild

@1997tacomav6 might be right though about needing a piggyback for those larger injectors, I'm not positive. I think the URD larger injector kit comes with its own piggyback ecu (the 7th injector does) to accommodate the higher fuel flow.

If you aren't running a smaller pulley I think the stock injectors should be sufficient, unless you have one that isn't working properly.

 

I had a machine shop do it for 50.00, I was a little worried about doing it myself
because it's aluminum I think or softer metal

 

Maybe check the fuel pump pressure too, if you haven't changed the filter in a long time could very well be that, or maybe check the flow rates on the injectors,

The problem is NOT The supercharger You still will have the problem if you take the charger off

I have had the truck for about a year and a half, i'll do the fuel filter this weekend.

I hope it's not he fuel pump, I dont feel like dropping the tank

 

It'll be a cheap way to rule one thing out at least, might solve the issue if the filter is clogged up.

 

Yeah cheap and only take me maybe 5mins.

 

It's pretty common that a K&N CAI will often cause some problems with a stock SC set up. It allows too much air compared to the stock intake (even with the silencer removed) and you go too lean (cuts out/hesitates). Depending on how technical you are and if you want to put the time in, you can get supra injectors (330cc or something like that) and an aftermarket tuner. Or the URD 7th injector kit is pretty plug and play, as long as you aren't trying to go smaller pulleys.

 

Never had an issues with my KN filter with 545,000 miles on the clock

 

Are you on stock injectors and stock fuel pump stock tune?

Maybe my injectors are going out or my fuel filter is old .

 

The engine has 2004 injectors which are a little bit larger than 1997 injectors, stock fuel pump
But I'm at 6000 feet, 2" pulley, 9-10 pounds of boost, stock ECU
Added methanol kit for the 2" pulley
3000 rpms up pulls like hell

 

Ok this is my truck.
Hard to tell in the vid. But you can feel it hesitate as it's accelerating.
It's real bad going up a long hill.

 

Yea I can hear that bad, could be a lot of things, Including BAD COIL
A bad coil Will cause a lot of hesitation,
Including carbon tracks on the spark Plug cables and plugs, don't think that's
a fuel issue
I had these issues and no code came up

 

I was just reading in another thread that when an injector goes bad, it's usually stuck open or closed, not intermittent, which I think would cause more issues than just a stumble at high RPM. I don't think it's the injector(s), especially since you're on the stock pulley. The stock injectors should be okay and I would be willing to bet that they are fine. It could be a misfire which could be a bad coil, or bad spark plugs/wires...usually throws a code but not always. Do you have a scan tool? You might have a pending code for it that hasn't triggered a CEL just yet.

That or some kind of fuel delivery issue is my best guess still...either the filter is clogged or the stock fuel pump is going bad causing it to struggle to keep up with the demands of the supercharger at high RPM.

 

It has new plugs and wires.

If the truck sits for a day it will run on 5 cylinders for like 30 seconds then clear out and run on 6 allday.
I might have an injector going out. I'll do the fuel filter this weekend

 

Check your coil packs first,
Never had an injector go bad on me in 545,000 miles
Had 3 coils go bad on me in 545,000

 

I'll have to hit the junk yard and see if I can find a pack or two
