He was not 'grandfathered' in to the starting position, he IS the starter who deserves to finish this season as such. The season is over for the Giants. So as the Giants, they decide to bench Eli with a well rounded resume and replace him with... Hmmmm...who can we play at QB....Hmmmm... Oh I got it....Geno Smith, yeah thats it, what an epiphany !!! A 4 year pro who has proven can't play QB. Great call Giants, just spit a big loogie in Eli's face while you're at it.

 

You high lighted the last sentence of my post and inadvertantly (or maybe not) capitalized 'Browns', I'm not sure they deserve that.

Hey guys I'm Ben mackadoo and I'm Gona go bench a future hall of famer 4 weeks before the season ends because my teams hopes of even getting into the wildcard position are worse than tony romos chances of winning the super bowl!

Why am I doing this? WHY am I benching Eli manning? Because I'm a self serving douche who's going to bench a super bowl winning champion for a modern day jarmarcus Russell because if I do, I might not get fired! Gotta push the blame on someone!

Hopefully that will save me Enough time to trade Eli to oh I dunno, the Cleveland Browns and then I can free up cap space to fix my receiving core and draft a nice new QB and start the cycle over again before getting fired half way through the next season for pulling a chip Kelly! OCD is a terrible thing. I’m part of Internal Affairs for the grammar police.

 

I doubt this was McAdoo's decision alone. I am not too sure they didn't shut him down early to prevent injury since the season is lost. He was offered to start each game to keep his consecutive streak alive but he declined saying it wouldn't do justice to the feat. He is under contract for two more years. They may cut him in the offseason and open up some cap space. He has a no trade clause so moving him that way may prove difficult.

 

I heard the same, although to start each game and then get pulled for Geno. Eli declined as you said.

 

Declined? Perhaps but with what receiving corps? What O-line? Their whole team is garbage and the wheels fell off since mackadoo has taken over. Eli has been streaky at best. As an Eagles fan I enjoy seeing their team implode. The football fan in me knows Eli manning is a better football player and doesn't deserve a benching
