Because banter on forums keeps them interesting. If there were no arguments put forth in a public forum; no one would visit them after a time. The ad click revenue would go away, and then the forum itself would fold.

So tell us more tell us more.

Have owned a 06 Frontier SE V6 double cab. It was not a bad truck by any stretch. I did not like the abundant hard, hard, uncomfortable molded plastic in the interior. The Tacoma is much more comfortable in that regard. I also did not like the stance of the Nissan. It is actually quite a bit lower to the ground than our Tacos. Also hands down the double cab Taco has a much better storage system and the rear seats are easier to fold flat. Of the two the Tacoma feels like more of a truck, with the Nissan offering more car like qualities. After owning both I would not go back to the Nissan.

    Pretty much stock
I had an 08 crewcab, and the nissan has 0 car like qualities, it rides rougher than the tacoma, and the interior is not near as plush. The only way the tacoma is more like a truck is in the fact of ground clearance, hell in the tacoma your sitting on the floorboard (which i like more), the frontier you sit way up in it.

I like the fully boxed frame in the frontier and that you can tow more.. but personally i like the styling of the Tacoma better.. and i really don't like the dash of the frontier. I havent driven one (except my grandfather's 1992ish frontier) so i cant say much more than that..

Towing is basically the same. 4x2 V6 is rated at 6,500 lbs just like the Taco with towing package and the 4x4 V6 is rated at 6,300 lbs.

I'll try to only post one relevant comment. I had a 2005 Frontier 4x4 Nismo KC and loved every last bit of that truck. It was extremely capable offroad and I still think the 4.0 V6 in the Nissan was a beast. My comparison deals mainly with the frame though:

Nissan: NEVER had ANY frame rust.

Toyota: I've put 2600 miles on it since June and can't believe the amount of rusting bits and pieces on the undercarriage. I refuse to drive it in the rain until I get some type of undercoating on it. I'm looking at ACF-50 from Pacific Corrosion Products.

And I live in South Central Texas, we shouldn't have ANY frame rust at all...

I had an '05 as well, and it didn't have any rust on the bumper or frame. The engine and trans were every bit as good as the Taco. And really, which do I care about more, a plasticky interior (with better control layout, I might add), or a rusty bumper and frame. Given Toyota's current recall mania, and production halt of their latest SUV, I wouldn't dare declare Toyota the winner. I do like my Tacoma more though.

I would agree that the Nissan was not car like regarding creature comforts. But regarding ground clearance, and overall appearance, it just did not look or feel like a truck compared to my Tacoma. Driving the Nissan felt as though I were driving a car. Perhaps not a comfortable car, but a car nontheless. The Tacoma feels and looks more like a truck and more capable of handling truck like duties. My opinion/perception for what it's worth having owned a Nissan for two years, and trading it for a Tacoma. Take it for what it's worth.

Agreed. The Tacoma is nowhere near a better truck then the Nissan Frontier.

my nissan did not squeak like an old woman like my taco does.....plus my nissan rear suspension did not sagf like it was 110 years old........ my radio in the nissan always worked well not the case in my taco...nissan had much more power than my taco....nissan had sun roof taco nope...nissan had mpg readout miles to empty reasout ect taco nope...full boxed frame taco nope.....nissan had garage opener controller built in taco nope.......nissan had a much better interior than my taco does......nissan had a full back window with a defroster in it my taco does not...."i live in the north east thats very important here".......nissan had sweet built in roof racks i loved them.....nissan had a full size spare with a matching rim...taco does not.....
do i like my taco more well i like the way it looks better than my nissan but it is no way inferior to the taco at all.......nissan did not have all these vibe issues with a 3"inch lift like my taco does......oh and the bed racks and bed itself in the nissan was so much more beffier than the taco...and the nissantailgate u could drop a bomb on it and it would not ever bend or budge at all.....
toyota really needs to regroup.. and for starters put the scouped hood on the off road package for starters
    just my opinion

the Frontiers are awesome truck prior to the newer models 05+

I had an 03 4x4 Supercharged crew cab short bed and it was awesome, performed well on and off road. Plus it was half the size of my Tacoma, however... it looked like ass!

The 05+ drive like mini vans, the interior sucks, the ground clearance is terrible, etc

I had a 07 Frontier rental for about a week while the Tacoma was getting some repairs (after an accident) and it was terrible.. drove like a mini van or how I'd imagine a Ridgeline would drive.

When I was haggling for my truck I threatened to go next door and buy a frontier. It didn't work- the guy at toyota could tell I threw up in my mouth.

Just a question, but if you had a Frontier before and knew exactly it's strong points why did you buy a Tacoma? Did you not research it well enough before making a purchase?

The truck that blew a motor and tranny in under 100k was a great truck?

What universe do you live in?

The Frontier isn't bad by any stretch...but it's no Taco.

I'd love to see this exact thread on a Frontier forum...
