And wow. Way the hell up there.

 

Not bad for $2500 invested eh? Sold it for $6600 after I used it for 2 weeks hunting. We were going to keep it but the Mrs thought it too small for her needs so she bought this and I got the FJ to myself finally.



and yes, it is way the hell up there. Fewer people and lots of wild country! Sorry about the crappy pics, old a$$ phone.

I was on the verge of buying a 3rd gen runner. But now I think i'll be okay as we are moving into town. At least for now. Brother has one. They are nice trucks.

Yeah its way up there. Plus Canada is right there! Are you going to move up there full time? Or just investing.

 

I think we'll end up there eventually after retirement but we've got a long time to figure that out. We'll probably look into building a cabin in the next few years. We got time.

Yeah, the wind is kind of getting old. Heck, the Mrs is over it! LOL Everyone I asked in the towns looked at me crooked when I asked about the wind there. They say the wind blows in that canyon about 3-4 times per year and it may only be about 10 or 15 mph. Of the few times that I've been there in different seasons, there was no wind at all.

 

huh. Well that is unique to the Rockies..I haven't been anywhere in the Rockies and not had some wind.

I thought Powell was windy, but holy crap do we get some mega swells up here by fishtail. Though i'll admit it doesn't seem to blow as often.

 

You sure you need a 12", even when my first gen was ridiculously tall I only needed a 10 either way the HF 10" drop works great if you replace it's pins with grade 8 bolts. Used mine to tow a heavy trailer full of motorcycles and crap down to AZ and plenty of other trips. $24

 

That's what I thought. I just thought it was a coincidence that it was never windy when I was there. That part of MT you're in does get some gusts for sure. I'd probably take less wind, even if it meant I had to nail everything down.

 

That is northeastern oregon on a trip we did last Memorial day. Its a a lookout in the Wallowa -Whitman NF. Up above the Hells Canyon area.

 

Ya I measured. My hitch is up in the bumper behind my license plate. I have 3.25inch in the rear of lift

 

Gotchya! Looks like good territory. The only trip I ever took through OR was in a Subaru and never really took in any sights. I may be up in your neck of the woods next May as I may take the boy up there for the summer. There's a few FJ guys that want to do some trail riding and show me some sights in WA if I go. Maybe I can wrangle you outta your cave for a day.

I did the whole tour, no problem, I did Moab, following trucks on tons and 40s doing the hardest trails in the valley excluding bfe, no problem.

Clearly 35s isn’t th issue. It’s just driving style, and attention to maintance. I know I’m not one to talk on maintenance, but if you drive like monte does all the time, a la long travel, you have to put more attention to shit like bolts working loose. But most of us don’t pre run everything we see.

Was driving to town from the village, thinking of the image of a blown out ball joint as I hit every dip...and my fucking glove box popped open loudly. Scared the absolute shit out of me

 

Trust me if ball joint goes..it'll lift you out of your seat..literally. haha

 

Had a tire roll off with @m3bassman once and it was such a weird feeling. Especially since the rear tire just rolled into someone’s yards then I realized I for got to torque the lugs on that side! Avoided any damage except my pride

 

No, I just bookmarked it after searching for Wyoming dirt roads last spring. I liked that it showed the maps with the roads marked, made it a little easier trying to cross reference to my Benchmark atlas or Google Earth. We got tied down working on the house this summer and didn't get out much.

 

Sounds like fun. Let me know what you guys get planned.
