What are some little quality of life mods/accessories you've done to your Taco?

Got an SR so I'm missing quite a bit from the start, but I'm wondering what ya'll have done to your higher trim models.

So far I've done tint.

Future mods/accessories:
Car alarm + keyless entry getting done next week
Change map and dome lights to a brighter white
Change headlights, taillights, reverse lights, and license plate lights
Either buy OEM sun visors with mirrors or just stick this on:

Can you give me more info on how you wired the dash cam up, and your impressions on this camera? Been looking to invest in one.

- Ratchet straps in center consul - use a few times per week.

Wireless charger Velcro to a cup, Walmart rug screwed to back tailgate, Goodyear Duratracs for winter. Cheap seat covers. Cheap wire mesh inside front grill to stop stones. Just alot of crappy mods that don't cost much, but serve a purpose.

 

Dash Cam Install (all details based on this specific model): DashCam with a 128Gig card.
I frankly have not bothered to download the videos yet so can't speak too much to video quality other than on the small screen its pretty wide angle.

Install:

• My truck has the remote Go-Pro clip already, I modified an aftermarket Go-Pro clamp to fit the back of the new dash cam with glue and screws, but I'd bet the 3M tape would have held.
• You have two wires to contend with, one is the power (usb), the other is the input from the rear facing camera. Both were easy to route through the headliner, A-pillar shroud and (for rear) C-pillar shroud using the supplied plastic tool. There is gap the entire length, so you can hide everything.
  • The power cable I routed down the passenger A-pillar, under the glove box, under the drive train console and into the a power port USB adapter in the console. The cable was just the perfect length for this.
  • The rear camera is mounted with 3M tape at the top of the back window just to the right (facing backwards) of the center slider window behind the driver side rear passenger headrest. Its cable was long, so I ditched the surplus into the open space behind the seats, behind the shell and out of the way even with the seats down.
• The camera sets itself up with a few initial read the screen instructions and fooling around with settings like auto dim the screen and audio choices-not rocket science.
• If I test the video quality I'll update...but reviews on Amazon might give you endless if not useless reading...overall I'm not disappointed, other than it is on sale!

I have a 2015 DCSB Sport. Great truck. Below is a pic of my mirror and dash cam. I bought a rear view mirror mount from bird dawg. Their mount has a position to add a Ram mount. Added a homelink mirror, which is larger than the stock one. My truck was prewired for the homelink. The dash cam is a vantrue n2 pro. Amazon has them. I ran the wires through the headliner and down the A pillow to the fuse box and used a add-a-fuse on a ignition fuse, so it comes on and goes off with the truck. Super easy. It took 15 mins to install. Well worth the money.

Blind spot mirrors are TOTALLY worth the $5. I use constantly.

Led map and done lights are great. Low cost to buy and they last forever. Again, super easy to install.

I would suggest getting a shorty antenna. I’ve never been a fan of the stock one.

Mods that increased my quality of life most are fridge, dual battery, and solar panel. Now my beer is ice cold wherever i go. What more could you ask for?

 

Thanks! Where'd you mount the blind spot mirror? I have a tough time deciding between inner bottom or outer bottom.

 

Since we're on dash cams, anyone know of something relatively
cheap just for the front that will mount in the gopro adapter?

 

Start with masking tape...I have one of each, but generally start with inner bottom. I have had both inner and both outer before and frankly got used to that NP. I choose one of each to actually put them in the same "spot" on the mirror so my eye just lands there regardless of which side, so driver side is inner bottom while passenger is outer bottom (bottom "right") on both...find this my preference since I generally look to outer left but blind spot right when using them. Don't cover the the blind spot detection indicator if you have them!

The bracket came with the C3s, the frame mount hole either existed or I used the stock bolt, I don't recall, but I did not have to drill or fab anything.

I popped out of the reverse light bulbs (as if changing the bulb), put a meter on the socked to find the (+) lead and then tapped it for the relay. I run most wires on driver side as there are more pot holes/water spray generally passenger/road edge side. After testing it all out I taped and tucked all the wires with tie-wraps/splice tape. These things take a beating behind the rear wheels so I went with high quality everything and mounted them closer to center. Lastly I run a double insulated (heat and PVC shield) wire conduit from the engine compartment down to the frame (driver side) so I can fish various wires but shield it from heat, impacts and grime. Rear facing low angle "headlights" make backwards driving child's play in any conditions and I wipe them off every time I wipe off the backup camera.
