So you are going to market with the first aluminum sided versions with no windows at all?

Front and rear windows will be options right away. But no side windows. The sides will open though.

Panel will come off, or there will be a hatch built into it?

No hatch. The standard model has a hinged rear panel and removable side panels that come completely off and are attached with 1/4-turn Dzus fasteners. Optionally the side panels will hinge open at the top.

    This and that...
This would be the design I would go with if in the market. The closest thing to this is another 3k and probably another 100lbs. Opens fully over the cab. I camp with 2 large dogs and keeping them in the tent is a must for their safety and comfort. This design allows them the sleep covered and enclosed in the back of the truck, leaving the living quarters clean and spacious. Also, no stupid ladder to deal with when loading them. Definitely should market to dog owners.

Instead of a sliding window (weight), how about a simple piano hinged door/window that latches open? Then I could put a screen on the inside and keep it open in nice weather. It would be easy to gasket to keep out the rain when it's closed.

The entire side panel will have the option of opening (either removable or hinged). You could still screen the inside with a magnetic bug screen on the inside tubes.

I saw somewhere else the $5k price is shipped? What's the discount for local pick up?

Since it's refundable if something goes awry - I'm # 0025. I hope the price doesn't start creeping with 'extras'. Looks to be a very cool product.

I need a screen to keep the dog in. I can probably zip tie some kind of mesh to the inside tubes.

There are small tabs in the interior corners of the tube frame that you could tie the screen to. We plan to offer interior cordura storage panels that attach the the inner wall of the lower. Think bikepacking frame bags. So you could use the tie-out points for those with the screen.

Exactly what I’m thinking. There’s no way I’m going to buy something like this without taking it on a 2 week maiden voyage across Montana and Idaho.
