My first experience with Bondo is not going well. Apparently I didn’t get the ratio of body filler to hardener right. It didn’t set up in the time it was supposed to but I hoped given more time it would.

21 hours later it’s the consistency of taffy. Guess I’ll scrape all this shit off and try again. Dammit.

Question for those running the deckplate mod:

Do you close it up when doing highway driving in bad weather? I'm thinking Colorado mountain trips in the winter - lots of slush.

Nothing except fill you with regret. After it is complete, you will then be overcome with an overwhelming urge to purchase a stock airbox.

This. And even if you do, unless you take your rig on some HARD shit a lot and push your rig to places most people only take SAS taco's on, it's not worth it. Don't get me wrong, I love mine and think they do great, but they are a lot of work, time and money.

If you’re gonna cut a hole in something related to air intake go balls to the wall and cut a hole for a snorkel! :sawzall:

You can probably buy a fender for less than a stock air box assembly if you have regrets....

If you're semi local to GA there is a guy selling his fender and snorkel for a non-holed fender straight trade

A snorkel is on my list, but that's a ways off. I'm just gonna leave the airbox stock for now. I'm saving up for the OME Nitrochargers/springs/leafs, so I've been looking for some projects I can do this winter that won't cost much money haha. So far I'll be installing a 3rd brake light in my camper shell, putting in new battery connectors, and doing some paint touchup on badges and the lettering on my tailgate.

Eh, I don't get why people regret doing the deckplate mod. Does it net any positive gains? Maybe, probably not. But, as long as you properly seal it then there's no reason to feel the need to buy a new airbox. Just throw the cover on.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
Anyone have need for some 4.30 rings and pinions, I got front and rears $80 shipped. Also have Whiteline LCA bushings brand new in bag, $50 shipped. Finally I have new steering rack poly bushings $15 shipped. USPS flat rate locations only (idk if Hawaii or Alaska are covered)

Cleaning my garage out, probably will have more crap but I know all this is in there haha

I keep my deckplate on at all times. All it does is nothing. :D When I first did the mod. I would leave the deckplate off and my air filter would be filthy within a month. Plus I had a K&N drop in filter, so that didn't help. So now I buy either WIX or OEM & keep the deck plate installed! Placebo effect or butt dyno? Maybe. No real gains. Just more noise!
