They sure put out a lot of junk over the years. Like GM they should have been allowed to go under in 2008.

I hate Chrysler products. I had a 15 JKU with 10,000 miles on it I purchased new. I had the motor pulled apart with a horrible tick, collapsed lifter, warn cam lobe.. still didn't fix the horrible ticking sound. Jeep overheated coming home on the 15 freeway with a roof top tent and bike rack on it loaded down with camping gear... traded that one in. A couple rigs later I find myself in a 3rd gen tacoma and cannot believe how much better it is on the road and off the road. If I were to ever buy an SUV style rig again I would take a 4runner over a Jeep any day of the week. The quality difference is insane.

Overall, there is a higher percentage you’ll have problems with the Jeep. But they’re not all problematic. Some are pretty dependable.

And I’m digging the new JL’s. Fits 35’s without a lift?? Awesome.

But every time I think about getting a Jeep Wrangler, the less sense it makes for me. I can do the same obstacles on my dirt bike or Rzr in half the time or less. And don’t need a spotter 90% of the time.

Not sure where you read about the 35's fitting without a lift, everything I've read says it will fit 35s with the 2" Mopar lift. It comes with 33's.

I'll post pictures tonight but I was at Toyota Jambo last May and saw 2 land cruisers on 35" crawl rock/dirt ledges 30"+. With all the electronics and 3 diff locks it was crawling things I couldn't climb on foot. At first I was very skeptical of a $90k full size SUV capabilities but damn... unless you have seen them off road in person I would hush hush.

I used to have a 94 YJ, 5 speed, 3 inch lift 33 inch and straight piped straight 6... It was a great jeep minus blowing out the transmission and transfer case while driving down I-95 (I'm going to say operator error/neglect/abuse on why it blew up).

LoL - my wife pushed hard for me to get a JK or JKU, I flat out refused!

I am extremely happy with my '17 TRD!

I've only seen 80's climbing in person, and I couldn't believe how capable they are with a small lift and 35's. They are absolute beasts.

UPDATE: wasn't the PCM. Dealership has the jeep torn apart and Chrysler is sending out a field engineer to try and figure it out.

Me too... dealership is stumped, they said they already replaced the PCM and ECU (guess they're different) checked the ignition and checked for a short circuit. All turned up nothing. No codes, no CEL, and starts up and idles just fine.... until it dies and won't restart for an hour +.

They seem confident its an electrical problem just can't figure out where. Not much else electrical to replace at this point so we'll see and I'll update.

It was in a review video. Can’t recall which one now. The product manager said 35’s fit. It may be only on the Rubi though.

If they fit a Rubicon they will fit a standard Wrangler. It's the Dana 30 front axle on the non-Rubis that is the problem for offroading. For 99% of the JKs out there doing nothing but going back and forth to the store, 35s won't break anything.

They do put slightly stiffer springs in the rubicon’s though; they sit about a 1” taller. Or at least in the front, as the stance usually is more level (of course that’s talking about JK’s, assuming the JL will follow suit). I’d imagine for a sport you’d probably just need a front coil spacer/leveling kit at most (if anything at all).

You can fit a 35 on a stock JKU you just won't be able to fully articulate the front axle. So will they fit and get you down the road yes down the trail no. To run a 35 tire safely and get full articulation you will be better off with a 3.5 inch lift or 2.5 and some cutting

I have a 2015 JKU Rubicon that is completely trail ready and love it and every time I wheel it am still amazed and no problems to date.

I also have a 2017 taco 4x4 and have also had a 2013 TRD offroad and they both have been amazing also.

Just don't see how they can be compared 2 different animals.

Sorry to say it but no matter what, they are both products of mass production and shit happens.

A little behind the times here....but....

I've offroaded both Jeeps & Toyotas. Owned a Grand Cherokee as a daily driver at one point.

First off - I'd never buy a NEW jeep and offroad it. You're far better off buying an older TJ and building it into something. We actually owned a 94 YJ 4.0L- Front & rear Dana 44 swap w/ ARB's, rollcage, 35's..... That thing was bulletproof and never left us sit. Well......Ok, we did break one of the original rear axle shafts on the trails ....LOL

I will admit - I'd never buy a Jeep as a daily driver. We owned Grand Cherokee for a few years then sold it to my MIL. We actually took care of it for her and did all the repairs on it. After 8 years of it being in the family...it had WAY too many repairs done to it.

If I wanted to get back into offroading again, I'd buy an older TJ in a hearbeat and rip out that Dana 30. If the rear didn't already have a D44 in it, I'd rip that out too!!
But since solid axles are disappearing..... If there was nothing left but IFS - I'd NEVER buy a Jeep IFS.
