Very. I wish I could retire now and just mess about with rally cars for the rest of my life. Sadly I wasn't born to a rich enough set of parents for that.

Yeah, it's actually 22 or 23, but I'll probably stick it out to 25 just to pad the retirement account some more.

Congrats! Enjoy not having anything to do all day.

...and here we are, first of three after 11 days off.

Had a fantastic Thanksgiving with the inlaws, we all got to go out to the Wild Animal Sanctuary out in Keenesburg. A very nice place and an even worthier cause!

FINALLY pulled the trigger on Icon Stage 3s for the beastie, after the 4th I'll get some Dakar leafs to go with. The wife'll kill me, but DAMN I'll have a nice rig to sleep in!

with those dakars, make DAMN sure they either have the new, upgraded isolators, or you have them drilled and put in by a reputable shop, otherwise the squeaking will drive you insane. i dont mind the little squeak that mine has, but i figure most people would lose thier shit over it.

Edit: also, the dakar packs actually do have more travel than stock, so make sure you get the right length shocks and extended brake lines so you dont blow up really pricey shocks by over extending them.

The shocks I got are Icon 56503R 2.0 aluminum shocks (0-3" lift), the Dakars I was going to get are the medium duty 56503R.

A guy here at work is running the same, and he says he's had no issues.

I've been looking through so many options for lifts that I don't know how to decide on one. I am going to stay away from spacers and blocks but haven't decided if I want to buy a full kit like OME, or piece one together. How do you like your Dakars? The extra bit of travel is appealing to me for traction off road

I've been very happy with my 5100/887/AAL lift. It's not my final but it's been a good holdover thus far. Eventually I want to go 63"C and Kings all around.

to answer your question, for the dakar leaf packs specifically, i like them as they handle a heavy trailer nicely, and arent too terribly harsh for everyday driving. they do require a bare minimum of a 175 pound load in the bed all the time, otherwise they are too stiff and rear end traction suffers. AKA wheelspin city every time it rains, or snows, or someone washed thier car and you drove through the runoff when going to work. as for the rest of the kit, IMO theres better to be had. the dampening of the twin tube shocks/struts leaves something to be desired, and the rear shocks dont fit without significant alteration to the lower shock mounts. also, the shocks themselves are no longer than the OEM units, which is fine in the front, given that the suspension geometry is the limiting factor in travel, but in the rear, because the springs are longer than stock, the shock acts as a limit strap for the spring, drastically reducing its lifespan. the coil springs are fine, and the 885 springs are as long and stiff as id want to go on a daily driven truck, any higher and you start breaking suspension components, any stiffer and its miserable to drive over potholes and road imperfections. also, in order to get extra wheel travel, for the rear you need longer brake lines, and some strategic bracket bends to not overstretch delicate ABS sensor cables. up front, you need different UCA's with better ball joint angles, and the CV boots need to be modified so they dont wear holes in each other. i HIGHLY do not recommend lifting over 2.5", it adds a lot of headache for minimal gains in performance.

if i had to do it again, id do Dakars out back with bilstein 5160 shocks, and longer stainless steel brake lines. up front id do the bilstein 6112 kit, with 600lb springs, and wheelers superbumps all around. however, if your wheeling more often than once or twice a month, id recommend upgrading to king/fox/icon, as they will hold up to the abuse longer, and can simply be rebuilt, rather than having to be replaced.

lol, my bad. i didnt see your profile picture and assumed you had a second gen. and you cant go wrong with the Icon stuff, it will last you a long ass time if cared for properly. do make sure your dakars are the ones with the leaf isolators though, otherwise they will squeak after about 3 days.
