I just like talking about trucks on this forum because these guys know their shit better than anyone else I talk to. Usually better than the guys who sell them.

I am hearing corrosion issues with the aluminum body Fords as well. As a guy that has owned a lot of aluminum trailers for snowmobiles I can attest that aluminum sure does rust. It doesn't look the same, and your really can't call it rust (oxidation) but it does rust and corrode.

 

For hauling, it's great! I have a crew cab in the old, steel body style. The new version is supposed to be like 800 lbs lighter. For hauling, the lighter body is great because it frees up your payload. For towing, a larger trailer seems to push the truck around from what I've read.

 

Nice! I want something to tow a deck over equipment/car hauler with my regular cab on it. Unless i decide to get a bigger truck to tow on the side, then I'll probably get a 32' gooseneck

 

I know, but it's fun to harass you about it.
If I was going to buy a diesel, it'd have be a pre-urea model. To hell with all of that 'limp mode' emissions shit that they all have now. Give me an older oil burner that idles like somebody shaking a bucket full of rocks, pulls stumps at 1100RPM, and goes for 500k

Which engine are you looking at? I drove one with the 5.3 and I didn't like the engine/transmission mapping on it at all. When you pushed the gas it was 'nothing-nothing-nothing-HEL-LO!' probably because of the push for fuel economy. But I didn't like how it was set up.

 

It sure does! I still have fatigue and can't do a lot of physical stuff. The yard is a mess and there's all sorts of things that have to get done around the house that are on hold.

 

I've always wanted one of the later 7.3s.

I have a commercial grade backpack blower, and a commercial grade push blower.

 

Yeah, the international 7.3's were good motors. I'm a sucker for a 5.9 Cummins, though. Especially in an old Pre-94 Dodge squarebody.

I've been looking at Chevy 2500 reg cab long bed WT pack with the 6.0.

 

I want full 4 doors, you could also look at their 6.2L v8, the newer ones have that

I don't need 4 doors. And I found some locally marked down to $36k. I'm not a huge fan of the 1500 Silverado. If I was going to buy a Chevy it would be a HD

I feel as though work trucks should be regular cabs with 8' beds. A lot of the plow guys around here run 4 door long beds, and I feel like it'd be a huge pain to try to navigate something that long, especially after you put a v-plow on the front that adds another 3 feet to your truck.
