That is correct, apparently it is a Toyota security thing. As soon as you open a door it shuts off (key fob in hand or not). Today was the first morning using it, and was still very happy to get into a warmed up truck.... so mild nuisance at best. But if they ever figure out how to get around that, I will be jumping on that solution right away! In other words, still worth it for me.

Great area! (if it's the area I'm thinking of). We have a good friend who lives near Huntsville and when we've gone to visit he's taken us all through around there, including Bankhead, and Bucks Pocket; really beautiful place.

There's a Tacomaholic video on YouTube on how to do it. Plan on doing mine as well.

Cool man, if it's worth it to you, that's great! I guess I probably wouldn't mind the mild nuisance with our Arizona summers to cool the truck off before I get in. It would definitely guarantee the battery to die before the 2 year warranty is up to basically start the truck twice every time I drove it. Life expectancy of a Tacoma battery here is about 2 years and it really does happen like clockwork. My last battery replacement was about a month and a half past 2 years so I had to pay the difference of the "pro-rated" warranty. Where are you at?
