the same thing happened when we lost the NC to OSU, derek henry had 112 yards on 6 carries; there is no way I have a back that is averaging 10+ yards a carry if I'm a coach, I'm gonna run him till the defense can stop him, or he has like a 400 yard game and the score has gotten out of hand. I kinda understand if you just did the same thing over and over it's predictable and the defense can adapt, but if they can't stop it, keep it up, and if they adapt, then maybe a little play action, reverse, flea flicker, but wait for the defense to react to what you have been beating them over the head with first

 

That's what I don't get... you have 4-5 RBs that would start for any other FBS team and probably average 100+ yards per game. Why would you NOT make that the center of your offense? I understand they also have some awesome receivers, but you're going to wear the other team out if you keep getting first downs and have some fresh 200+ pound RB hitting your LBs and corners. They aren't going to be able to keep folks rotating in fast enough.

 

I remember those games... same w/ Oklahoma. Derrick had a great game (kinda his first big game) and they still didn't just keep pounding it. I agree... if they can't stop it, keep at it. You will wear out their front line at least and make it better for the of the game when you need the other side to be worn out.

Especially now... Bama almost has too many RBs... you can't get each of them enough touches, but as long as they are not fighting about it, just keep rotating a new one in and keep the hammer down.

Looks like they are going to hire Phillip Fulmer which they should of done long time ago.

Reports are that they would not let Currie hire leach

who does UT really think they are...it's been a long time since they were relevant, T Martin won it all, poor ol un-athletic manning never won it

 

well, the "Fulmer guy" is Phillip Fulmer, the head coach when UT was dominant with Payton Manning. So, he has quite a bit of clout.

 

Leach would have been a homerun hire, wtf?

 

Old coaches want to retain power; clout will get you in trouble when you have no idea what you're doing. We had an old baseball coach at MSU that threw a temper-tantrum to get his way on naming his successor, but MSU stood their ground and made a wise decision. Coach Ron Polk is beloved, but has no business trying to run the athletics program from retirement. To each his own though. Our baseball program went to new heights despite old coaches wishes that MSU would crawl back to him.


I loved growing up watching Coach Polk and MSU baseball, just didn't like the way he tried using his clout to get his guy hired.

EXACTLY!!! One drive where nobody touched the ball but RBs (including that screen pass) and we marched down the field.

Our starter averaged 8.5 yards/carry.

I'm not saying we would have won the game, but 28 combined carries for the horses we have in the backfield? GTFO Daboll!

Henry ran 46 times in the Iron Bowl last year, then another 44 times in the SECC. And that was with Mr. Gimmick himself, Lane Kiffin.

We don't need one guy to carry it that many times this year... There isn't a team in the country w/ the depth at RB that Alabama has.

Fulmer is a jackass. I hope he's the new AD and he hires Tee Martin as the next HC. Alabama hasn't lost to Tennessee in 4,059 days. I think that combination at UT will keep the streak going for a long time.

I turned into a meme at Auburn when we stormed the field after the Iron Bowl.

I walked up to Stidham and said congrats and good job on the win but then I got boxed in by this reporter man and couldn't move.

The SEC Championship is quite the experience. My dad works for Kroger and sometimes gets offered tickets to go, and he was sick one year so I (LSU fan) and my brother in law (UT Fan) were the recipients of the tickets. It happened to be the year Alabama vs. Georgia (2012?) had an epic game with an almost comeback win by Aaron Murray. Epic experience, great game.
