I was told Meyer left as he was caught w/ a female grad assistant or something along those lines. He had to leave the university to keep everything under the radar.

 

I'm not saying it doesn't have an affect, any loss always has an affect. I mean fans claiming that Alabama was THE REASON that coach was removed/left/fired whatever. And that's just a load of crap.

 

well obviously? that means success in the conference. Saban can lose one game in the conference per year and still be at the top, every other team could too, but they always lose more than 1.

 

I dont think it has ever been the ONLY reason. Like you, I feel it may add to the list of reasons.

On the other hand, if it were the opposite ie: they always beat Saban and Bama, it is a saving grace of sorts.

 

somewhat? always beating any team is a little bit of a saving grace. LSU has been beating A&M since they joined, and that's the final game of the season. finishing your season strong is always somewhat of a saving grace.

 

And in the west, one of those is Bama. Right?


So if a team loses 2 games a year, and the only repeat loss is Bama....

it's not always Alabama. Ole Miss had Alabama's number a couple years ago. Auburn pulls off the upset occasionally but loses to LSU or someone else. Alabama doesn't always beat every team they play.

 

Let's talk LSU!


Will Coach O gain some traction next year?
Will they have a QB?
Will they get the stable of RB's back and DB's that LSU is so widely known for?

 

And this is exactly why Bama will get left out of the playoffs because of yalls crappy schedule.

 

Um... ok, I think most of us are saying it's a reason, maybe not THE reason, but you are the first person I have read here stating that folks say it is THE reason. I would guess that if A&M beat Bama this year, Sumlin would still be there. Opinion only... I really don't know. However, you are correct as losing to Bama is not the only reason. I really doubt there is really, ever a single 'on the field' issue that would cause a coach to be fired.

I still go back to what I said a bit earlier. There is always the saying in Bama land about beating Auburn.

well @yota243 made the first comment about the coaches being gone because of Alabama, and most that I deal with as coworkers or friends believe the same thing.

 

Hey, at the time we made the schedule, it was stronger than playing Auburn 3 or 4 times a year....hahahahahahahahaha.

Glad y'all finally came back to relevance! Try and stay there for more than a year so that beating you actually means something next year.

 

Jimbo wasn't the entire cause of our problems neither was losing Francois. I can honestly say I am glad to see Jimbo go. Don't think he's been the same since his divorce. Hoping we can pick up Willie Taggart and get this thing rolling again. No excuse to have the quality of players you have and perform the way the team did this season. I will say the defense lost us more games than the offense/QB.

Jimbo is also not gone because of anything to do with Alabama, he started pulling the same garbage he does every year about facilities and money. He would still be here if not. This is honestly a blessing for FSU, with the grave he dug himself in the past couple weeks he would've been gone whether he went to TAMU or not, this way just saved a lot of money.

Oh and to get in on the Alabama arguments.
I feel like bama fans are the most obnoxious fans in college football. You're lucky patriots fans exist or I'd change that to all of football.

 

The west needs a healthy Auburn and LSU. NEEDS it. We dont want to become the SEC East, do we?

 

Have you met UT or Ohio State fans? lol.

 

Well, I like to try to think of the folks on here as more "common sense" type people.
