The Wisconsin game was a disheartening beginning to the season that signaled not much had changed in the program. The defense almost bailed the Tigers out, but as usual it was the offense that held the team back. Cam Cameron at offensive coordinator could not get the most out of a talented group, and when the dust settled LSU had fallen short.

This is where we are as rubber-necking onlookers to the situation in Baton Rouge and it’s in the same spot as last season. It’s not so much that the team got worse, it’s that the situation stayed more or less the same. That’s what finally forced a change the school got really close to last season before pulling back.

The thing about LSU is "the same" is still pretty damn good, and there are probably 100 FBS programs who would take LSU’s situation in a heartbeat. Most programs would not get rid of Miles, but most programs shouldn’t or don’t expect a coach to be much better than Miles. LSU does and that means just like that Bill Connelly story says outright, Miles essentially has to be Nick Saban. That is always the problem in Baton Rouge. So time is a flat circle.

The Tigers played again like the same old team, and the leadership at LSU returned to covet the same thing they have for nearly a decade. LSU wants so badly to be Alabama. That is the biggest mistake in Baton Rouge, and the Tigers may have just sold the soul of the program to get there.

I'm would venture to say that guy likes Alabama or is tied to them somehow. It's his opinion as a writer that LSU wants to be Alabama. LSU wants to be winners, no matter who the winner be that's what they strive to be. It happens to be Alabama as of recent, but that doesn't mean they want to be Alabama.

Les Miles could've beat Alabama every year but if his offenses continued to not change he still would've been fired. Losses to teams like Arkansas and MSU kept him out of the SEC title.

I also have best friends that are Alabama fans, and I hate discussing football with them. No leniency towards anyone who just makes asinine comments.

 

There are a couple bars here that proudly say "Southern home of the Ohio St Buckeyes" out front to appeal to snowbirds. Makes hating Ohio State fans a lot easier when they also clog our roadways and ruin daily life... But yes they are ridiculous. Just seemed right to get in on the current Alabama argument

 

You may be right. But, I think he was speaking more to the dominant style of play that LSU and Alabama are typically known for. LSU doesn't have to brag or boast when they are good. They don't have to rush the field. LSU wins with class. I think it's more of the culture that LSU wanted to be like Alabama. They have it, they just need to organize it and enforce it.

they just need coaches who can actually use the talent they recruit. I've said it time and time again, the NFL factory that is LSU (#1 actually) a good coach there could win championships after championships.

 

Considering the last decade, and body of work of Alabama, the success and dominance, what other fan base comes close to having the right to make outlandish comments? Does Alabama even deserve to be proud of the last decade?

 

Alabama had the 31st ranked schedule and Auburn had the 4th....

Alabama deserves to be proud sure, but proud is different than boastful and downright arrogant.

When you cheer for a team that claims like 5 or 6 fake national titles, how can you be proud?

When a coach leaves a team for personal reasons and your fan base tries to take partial credit for why the guy left, how can you be proud?

When your team knows what it's like to be the dumpster fire of the conference, but now you have success, why would you be so boastful?

It just doesn't make sense to me.

 

as of recent years, I have seen the light that is SEC bias.

As an LSU/SEC fan, I'm sorry to other conferences for that BS that the media and "experts" provide.
