    Hi TW,

Long time lurker, first time poster. There's a ton of nice trucks on this board and you've given me a lot of good ideas about what I wanna do to mine to make it "my own".

I bought my first Tacoma, a '16 Silver Sky Metallic TRD Sport in July of 2016 after my 2005 Jeep TJ was hit by a drunk driver and was written off by the insurance company. It was parked outside my house while I was sleeping, so at least I wasn't in it. I still miss the Jeep from time to time, but I absolutely love the Tacoma.

Unfortunately though, I've had a couple instances of bad luck with the truck when it comes to exterior damage and I was hoping you guys could guide me to the replacement pieces I need. I've had not much luck with dealers in helping me, even the one I bought the truck from.

The first piece I need is a small plastic cover on my right side mirror which hides the wiring. I was driving on the highway a few months back when I struck a raven. It moved out of the way initially but somehow got sucked back in when I past it. It bent the mirror in but I only realized a while later that this plastic cover had broken off on the impact of the bird. RIP little guy. One dealer I spoke to gave me a part number which I'm skeptical about, since it doesn't seem like what I need. 81730-58010 is what he gave me. Do I need the entire assembly?

The second part (parts?) I need is the entire front licence plate assembly. Some jerk backed into me a while back and took off without leaving a note. I was only in Subway for 10 minutes. I know this because there was another guy waiting by my truck when I came out and he let me know another truck with a trailer hitch bumped my truck and just took off.

Anyways, here are some pics of the parts I need for a better reference. I totally appreciate any help I can get.

As far as the front plate mount, look through the for sale section. You may even get lucky enough that a member here may have one to give, because many states do not require a front plate and if not needed you can ask the dealer to not install it.
There are a few members on here that have access to parts diagrams, one should be @Titus_Will_Toyota
If I am correct @Jeff Lange , sorry jeff for the tag if this not correct.

    Welcome.

Got to Toyota.com, click on Owners, then Parts. You can fish through to find that mirror cover.

I didn't like that plate mount and just removed it and mounted the plate directly to the bumper.

Look on car parts.com to find a totaled vehicle and they'll ship it to you if there's one availible. Let me look to see if I still have my plate holder.

    Hey thanks! I do try!

    Thank you for your reply!

That actually looks pretty sharp. If I didn't need a replacement vehicle so quickly I would have waited until my local Toyo dealerships had the red or orange. They look so damn good.

I have yet to check there. Thanks!

    Okie doke!

    Sending PM shortly!

Go to your local dealership for the plate holder. Most will give you a new one free of charge.

Wow - a TW post that describes my need exactly! Alas it's 4 years old and doesn't seem to be resolved - nonetheless, I'll unearth it in the hopes someone can help.

I too have lost the lower plastic plate to my mirror housing - the exact same piece picture above (which I will repost here). Dealer says whole thing needs to be replaced for $350 plus $100 labour. But you can clearly see that if one had the plastic, it would just snap right in. No joy to be found on car parts.com and the other lead that is linked in this thread was a dead. I'd be grateful for any new suggestions. And Jeff (fellow BC-er), if you are still out there, let me know if you solved this.

The same thing happened to me . I am a collision tech at Dodge and an old coworker worked at Toyota . Fortunately he had a total there and got it for me . I gave him a 100 $ for the help because this guy's right it only comes with the assembly. He doesn't work there now though .

Ok - good to know. Was it easy enough to pop into place once you had it?

Yeah it just pops right in but I'm not sure how easy it comes off. Try a junk yard .
