Wow, that's disappointing to hear. I've been dealing with Bernardi Toyota in Framingham... they are prepping the frame at the dealer, and then sending it to ProShine autobody in Framingham for the treatment... I have been holding off installing my '17 trd OR take-off suspension setup i scooped up, and my new tires, until after getting this done. Not sure whats worse... getting overspray on my new tires/suspension, or getting myself covered in this shit if I wait until after!!!

Don't buy a vehicle that has been driven on salted roads.
Save your money until you can find a truck in Missouri or other states that have very little snow. You won't regret it!
The salt melts the snow, mixes with the water, then atomizes,
and gets into every crack and crevice, slowly eating your vehicle from the inside out.
    Rust hurts resale big time!
I garage my Tacoma in the winter and drive a beater, when the snow flys.

Just as the first snow snow begins here & if it's a cold spell I've noticed these city dump trucks with large tanks of liquid driving around. Stopped @ the Tims & there was half dozen trucks there, guys stopping for coffee. Asked what there spreading & things got kinda quiet. One guy told me outside that it was normally salt but the first snow gets a special coating. All I know is since they started doing this, all street lines vanish & they were just painted in Sept. when kids went back to school. Never mind com trails, anyone know what this toxic waste is?

So in your opinion, the value of cars driven in states with salt will decrease if ever I try to sell that vehicle outside of that state?

Hate to paint it all with the same brush but without personally inspecting I'd say yes. When I bought mine off lease, there were 2 other trucks available both from more intensely salted regions. I took a pass on them. Mine just had frame replaced when the lease ran out & it was returned to Toyota, plus I could personally look it over. Better know the devil you do than the devil you don't. Sun is another one. Passed once on a Truck that was so sun baked, I thought it was subjected to nuclear attack. Just vaporized.

It won't help you to sell it, that's for sure.
Plus if the buyer crawls underneath, he will see the damage from rust and the stone, rock salt chips on the hood.

Does every state that gets snow salt the roads? They put some stuff on some roads when in snows in Georgia. But I'm not sure what it is? It only snows here twice a year though at the most

I guess I should had took better care of the wife steps. But I figure they are consumables unlike the frame.
Our state has come up with what they call salt brine. They spray it on the roads a high salt concetrate soulution with molasses’s mixed in it so it sticks. Nasty shit!!!

Did they use a garden hose???

Also, I don't think those coatings are going to stop it. Not unless they grinded all the rust off beforehand.

Some states that get less snow will spread sand or ash.

A lot of states are switching to a sand mixture and not scraping the roads down to bare pavement.. It really doesnt make any sense to use salt anymore. Salt melts snow, snow freezes to black ice, which also causes more stress on pavement causing cracks. I hate that we use salt here because it fixes one problem and creates another.

I see more states using salt in greater quantities.
The issuance companies are pushing for more salt use, to help reduce auto accidents

13 cupholders for beer. All the Weathertechs.
Sometimes I look at the surface rust on my leaf packs and go "Aww man, rust." Usually forget about it 2 minutes later. This post isn't helping at all is it? Now where'd I put that 5th Friday HH beer...

In my area we get snow about once a decade, and they use sand on the heaviest traveled roads. They say it's not even worth investing in salt or the equipment considering how rarely we need it.

And in michigan, our equipment is shit because the rust is tearing them apart.. every truck that has a salt carrier has no rear bumper and only half a bed because of the rust. We dont have enough money here to pay for anything but salt and now we are losing the equipment to even spread it. Not a whole lot of logic there.

You could lease your truck and not worry about it. Don't be gentle, it's a rental!
