Suggestion on Where to purchase Truck in Seattle?

Hey Guys,

I just recently moved to Seattle from CA and looking to get back into a Tacoma. I though CA had high prices for Tacomas but man Seattle beats that. I find most of the dealers here are a no haggle type. I have really only been looking online/autotrader currently but am slowly starting email chats and will eventually go in.

Anyone have a dealer they recommend?

There is no good answer to this. You may get a deal where someone else got ripped off. I bought from Lake City. I heard Burien was decent but I could not strike a deal with them. I did not have much luck negotiating price at Michael's or Titus Will or that other dealership above Shoreline. Buying a Tacoma at a good price in WA is tough. Try to work with the Internet sales manager and get them to agree to a price before coming in. Don't get haggled. Good luck!

I am in a more competitive situation (Indiana), but used the buying techniques used in the sticky on this site on how to buy a taco (i.e. basically know exactly what you want and bid it out to dozens to hundreds of dealers via their internet or fleet sales manager.) It took a little time, but got my new truck in July for over $500 below dealer invoice from a dealer almost 100 miles away who actually got the allocation from another dealer almost 400 miles away. As I told each dealer, I was going with best price period...and that I was willing to fly as far as necessary to get that best deal, then drive the new truck back home. Perhaps if you try a similar approach with dealers in other areas where Tacos aren't selling for MSRP or little off MSRP, you may be surprised.
Does take a bit of work, but its a hell of a lot less expensive and stressful than negotiating with the dealer next door.

I bought from Burien. Not a bad experience at all, but they are a bit on the disorganized side. Also, pretty much no negotiating on the truck price... add ons and warranty are a different story.

 

I worked with 3 dealerships and ended up buying from Michael's in Bellevue. Make them fight over you, rather than trying to deal with one.

 

This. Get competitive quotes from multiple dealers. Then leverage the best quote against other dealers to see if they can beat the price. If so go back to the originally lowest priced dealer and see if they can beat it.

I bought mine at Toyota of Kirkland.

 

I ended up buying mine from Doxon Toyota in Auburn. I told them every spec I wanted and they found it through the dealer in Burien. I paid $3,000 less than MSRP. 2017 TRD OR DCSB with premium/tech in Inferno.

 

Thats where I bought mine after looking for a while. I went certified used though!

 

Do not go to Toyota in Bellingham.....

 

Lums in Warrenton just south of Astoria. Worth the drive.

 

For what it’s worth, Doxon in Auburn also has great OEM Parts prices. I price checked about 6 items online for upcoming parts I want (header rail, roof rack, T4R Pro wheels, etc), and without showing them the numbers I had they met or beat most prices.

 

stay away from magic, Titus, Larson. They treat you like shit. Puyallup service department is ok but the sales team are still a bunch of con artists.

Michael's in Bellevue is a good dealer to work with. As is Toyota of Kirkland.

If you want to make the drive south Lum's is an excellent dealership. I grew up in that area and my parents have purchased many vehicles from them. Small town family owned dealer.

Nice! That seems close to invoice. I believe I paid ~2500 under MSRP which was about 500 above invoice. I bought mine when the 17's were just coming out so not a lot of clearance off the new ones.

 

I bought my wife's Highlander from Michael's. They were good to work with. Toyota of Olympia is where I have my service done. They just opened a new dealership off of I-5. They have been easy to work with as well. Magic Toyota was horrible.

 

Yeah, great service department too. My diff was seeping and they gave me a new 4runner as a loaner instead of a Camry and when they said it was going to take a month+ for parts they didn't hold my truck when I asked for it back.

Going off on a tangent though (probably gonna get a lot of hate for this), I don't see the hype about the 4runner compared to the 3rd gen tacoma. The 4.0 has a lot less pick-up at 40mph+ for a little more grunt at low end speeds and worse mpgs. The interior feels really dated, feels more like 2009 than 2016 and there was a ton of body roll/dive. That being said, it's a bit roomier and the seats are more comfortable.

 

Did you have a bad go round with them? They have a lower tax rate at Toyota of Bellingham and Foothills Toyota.

 

Sorry I said Toyota but meant Nissan, just caught it. They gave me 6 hard looks on my credit in one day and didn't say anything. My credit was good but the only thing that was hurting me was time in I guess, the multiple looks killed my score BAD it dropped 250 pts. They also didn't tell me about rust which I should have caught but was a Tacoma novice. Forced them to bust it and undercoat but they only put undercoat over the rust.... So yea. Also got attitude and dirty looks for bringing it back. Kinda shit when you pay as much as I did.
