So I was buying a 2018 TRD off-road 4Runner with my wife and we got to the topic of extended warranty. I knew I had purchased one when I bought my truck from Palmers Toyota in Alabama. I asked the guy if he could look up mine and see which one I got. Turns out the day after I bought my truck the extended warranty was canceled. I did not cancel it, I paid for it, I didn’t get my money back, it’s on my invoice, I have the signed extended warranty paper. So when I called the warranty company and asked them who canceled it the woman on the phone politely told me that she couldn’t give out that information but it wasn’t me because the cancellation came from the dealer. She also told me this isn’t a system error or glitch and their was a refund issued. So my question is who is benifiting from this? By the way they gave me my active duty military rebate and still did this! F#@! Anyone else have a story like this and what happened with your “situation”?

I did and got a case #. But they said I’ll just get my money back or warranty reinstated. I just don’t want this to happen to anyone else. Plus I’m pretty sure it’s illegal.

Give the dealer a bad BBB review, and report it to the local news station. They won’t like that and others that buy there will be double checking!

however this salesman got this info that shows it canceled you need a print out of it. if any way you can get something in writing from the warranty company you called. would assume if you open a case you will need to attach proof to your claim. they owe you the money they charged you and you should be able to recover it.

Guessing someone at the dealership pocketed the money -- what dumb asses. Make sure you ask for the interest too!!!

Really wish I could of bought my truck from anywhere other than the SE region. The tack ons from the distributor are ridiculous here as well. $120 for some stupid usb cords, toyocare which is a horrible value (especially with oil changes only at 10k), $700 for $50 worth of 3m film, and it still didn't come with mudflaps or door sill protectors. At least I got an unlimited powertrain warranty which really doesn't matter since my trade in had 200k+ and the engine will outlast me anyways.

That’s a good idea and he didn’t exactly say I’d get my money back or warranty reinstated, he asked if I wanted either of those.

I did get him to print the screen for me but it doesn’t say a whole lot. The woman from the warranty company wouldn’t print it or send me anything. She said that if anyone called with my contract number and my consent the company would gladly tell them what she told me.

That’s what I thought too but when I read the fine print it said it could be any certified mechanic. Turns out I’m an ASE certified mechanic. All I need to do is call the warranty company and set everything up with them. That was the selling point for me.

So if it was cancelled and you never received your money back, you have recourse against the dealership.

This puts you in a powerful position.

If it were me, I would demand a full refund of the total warranty price plus reinstation of the warranty.

I would strongly suggest keeping quiet about this for now, speaking with the dealership, and only bash them on social media and the BBB if you don’t get some sort of satisfactory response

If there was a lein on the vehicle it would have been paid to principal. Legally, that’s the way it must work.

Totally forgot about this as well.

So first course of action is to see if the principal payment was made against the loan.

Even if the payment was made, I still think you’re in a good position to have to warranty reinstated free of charge.
