Moral of the story: don't buy a Corvette from CarMax.

Exactly...it's eye opening to see used Tacomas at new Tacoma prices. And every SR is labled as an SR5 or higher trim level.

I wonder if they are in business to help people with bad credit. Nothing against that, I had bad credit forever until I started making better choices in life. Took me awhile though.

11 pages and the OP checked out of his own thread. Apples and oranges. Toyota doesn't even know anyone can tune their vehicles so they aren't setting traps. LS motors have been tuned by every Bubba with a laptop for years - GM is on to it.

Only read the first 3 pages. Don't really care to read all the posts.

Sucks for the guy if he truly bought that car and did no tuning himself.

Beautiful car - wish I had one.

Buy one. I've been thinking about going C7 myself. We can be twins.

The moral of the story is be sure you do not purchase a car that had been previously tuned and you didn't know it (or install a tune without thinking about the possibilities down the road). All manufacturers now have the ability to go back into the ECU and see if it had been tuned. If your engine fails thousands of miles later, you are toast once a forensic exam is conducted. Don't be naïve enough to think Toyota does not have this ability.

If Diablo, with their millions of dollars of research and engineers on board cannot get around this, some guy in a garage certainly isn't going to be able to.

The most amazing thing in that thread is that someone actually admitted he was wrong.

I’ve been a member there for 10+ years and it’s full of negativity and mudslinging. It’s as bad as TW is good. Such a better brotherly vibe over here.

Also: shoutout to @tcBob for TW having 10x better software than any other forum, including CF

    OP updated. Thread summary:
    1. He bought a ‘14 Vette with 8k miles from Carfax
    2. Engine blew awhile later
    3. GM says it had been tuned & it’s not under warranty, he posts on Corvette Forum for help
    4. CF is 10% helpful, 90% turd posts
    5. Carfax says they’ll cover it
    6. OP is happy, most of CF leaves to find other threads to dump on
