Bilstein 5100 w/ OME 885

You'd be surprised how shitty they are. The theory is that all the extra weight on the drivers side causes premature wear on the bushings. The extra spacers only fix the symptom, not the cause. Not everyone gets the same results but it's worth trying since the bushings are only $30

Bilstein 5100 question (minus the 885s)....for 2015 TRD Sport, would 5100s all around with 1.75" height in front level out truck and would the lean be avoided since only front is being raised slightly? Anyone have pics of similar setup?

 

Did you have any issues with the dust covers on your tc ucas? When I got mine, the dust covers were off and ripped when I tried to put them on. Or did you get uniball? Brw truck looks great

 

This is what I originally started with, just the 5100s upfront set at 1.75 and it must be the lines of the truck, but it looked a bit nose high to me. I ended up putting 1” blocks in the rear and it looked completely level, when I measured though, the rear was .5” higher than the front which I was happy with. Go measure from the center of your wheel to the bottom of your fender on all 4 corners. That will give you an idea where 1.74” more will put you in reference to the rear. Make sure you do it on level ground. Also, it will tell you if you have taco lean or not. Some trucks have it, some don’t. If you don’t and you re use your stock coils, you won’t have it when you level it. The stock coils are driver side and passenger side specific to make up for it so when you do level it, don’t mix them up if you end up using the stock coils. I didn’t notice my lean until I swapped my stock coils for ome ones and had to get a spacer to fix it. Hope this helps. I’ll see if I can track down a pic of mine with the blocks and 1.75” up front. Sorry no pics of just the 1.75” up front.

Think you can run 245/75 with just bilstein 5100s set at 1.75” up front and all rest stock? Or would 245/70 be max?

 

Those are 265/70r17s. Just an inch bigger than stock

 

Thanks. There are dust covers but not at the top where grease fitting is located at bearing. I will try to get a picture. Not uniball.

 

Yea I know there isn’t any cover on top where the zerk fitting is. Underneath where the actual ball joint is, mine came with blue dust covers but they weren’t around the base like they should be. They were just sitting on the stud and being held on by the castle nut. So when I tried to put the base of the boot around the ball joint, they both ripped. The company sent me out new dust boots free of charge but now I still have to put them on and try not to rip them again. It’s just a pain. Other than that they’ve worked good. Mechanic was able to get my alignment correct with them and all.

 

For anybody who's looking to level their 3rd gen...heres what 5100s up front with 885 coils looks like. Tires are 265/70/17..had some good rub when reversing, full lock and turning downhill but thats all gone now.

 

A few questions:
Did you do anything to the rear?
Is the 5100 strut set at 0?
Are you running stock in the rear?

 

Back is stock right now. Got 5100s waiting to go in on Christmas Day.

 

Which I’m assuming won’t make a difference as far as asthetics right?

Yeah, from what I’ve read the 5100s should maintain the stock height in the back.

Thanks! The front right now is slightly taller than the back but not too noticable. I’m going to wait and see if it settles at all before I lift the back any.
