Hello, I was wondering if your coils get scratched when a shop puts it on?! I had bilsteins with toytec coils. I didn't know if they get scratched while the compress them? Any advice would help

My Truck is a complete Pavement Princess and I wouldn't give a Rat's Ass if the coils got scratched putting them in or any other way.

Maybe the OP was just trying to figure out if new coils would be scratched up after install thinking the shop might’ve put on used coils and stolen his new ones.

If they are a nice color powder coated coil, they will try to be careful but when working with suspension stuff happens. Spring compressors tend to slip sometimes. I wouldn't worry too much about it...

Have you ever compressed a coil? That's some scary chit man. In the back of their heads they may be thinking, DON'T SCRATCH THAT COIL. But most of the time they are wondering how old their equipment is, how cheap was the guy that installed it, was it the most affordable model, and how far away can I stand away from this claymore if it does decide to release. I never try to scratch customer's coils. But if it happens....i don't lose any sleep.

That all depends on the scratch! If it is a slight cosmetic scratch that affected the finish of the spring, no big deal.
If however it is the mother of all scratches and has gouged the steel surface significantly I would be concerned that it would cause a fatigue failure point, specially if used extensively off road.

When I compress coils sometimes they try to snake out of the spring compressor. Clamping a pair of vice grips on the spring wedges against the compressor clamp helps. Don't change your oil OP you might scratch the drain plug.
