@RobP62 lift specs/tire size? I have a DCLB too and I've noticed our trucks look so long. Still debating between 265 and 285. 285=looks cool, 265=more practical for DD.. I've seen some long beds with 35" that look pretty good but don't think I will be doing that anytime soon

That's sexy! I would never thought that combo would look good but seeing them, wow those wheels make your paint pop

Well, I had a couple very long conversations with a member named @EatSleepTacos. I explained how I did not want to invest a lot of time and money right after just buying the truck doing a lot of mods to fit 285s. I was already in for just over 3k with tires, wheels, tonneau cover, tint, and vent visors.

He explained how while there are rare cases of it not being required, most likely it would require a mild lift, which I believe should not be done with sub-par parts. Also almost a requirement would be the cab mount chop aka CMC, and the pinch weld mod. Those aren't as costly but those are permanent changes I wasn't ready to do to a new truck. Then there's the fact that this is my daily driver in the winter commuting 88 miles round trip. Throw 285s on there with a lift and you can kiss the higher mpg's good bye. I also saw some long beds on here when I joined that had 265s without lifts and I honestly liked how the tires filled the wheel wells more and looked more natural. I just showed him some pics the other day and he liked the look and said that I nailed it. Naturally I thanked him for helping me pull it off so easily. I'm way too old to seek or require validation but it really made me feel good.

Ultimately however, I know my inner child will take over and I'm gonna break down and do that lifted larger tire thing but for now, I'm pretty damn happy.

Oh, and here's proof that the 265s are definitely on the more practical side of things:

    20170920_134906.jpg

That's with a full bed on a trip down to the beach, averaging 70 most of the way, but, I definitely have a lead foot, and for commuting I keep my teach at or under 2k on the highway, with a third of that commute through the city and I still get 17.2 mpg's daily. I will miss that for sure.

Thanks! The Inferno and Copper are made to be together. My first choice were the Matt Bronze which I think would look just as good, just the darker side of the spectrum, but these fell into my lap and it was an offer I couldn't refuse.

Good write up! So you went with 265/70/17? Ridge Grapplers?

Yes, and even though they are a E load range tire the Sport shocks have more negative effect as far as harshness is concerned than the weight of them, which if memory serves, are just 4 lbs heavier than comparing the 285 size C and E. When I bought mine they only came in E range. Now they do offer the 265 in a C. Honestly though, I would prefer the E since they have a stronger carcass. I drive in the city and there are a lot of potholes and rr tracks. I rarely slow down for obstacles.

My previous two vehicles (2012 Tundra & 2014 4Runner Trail) wore Duratracs but they wore out weird as hell on the 4Runner and were shot for me at 30k miles. Otherwise I would be running those on the Taco. They were unstoppable and the safest tire I ever had on a vehicle in the snow. So far I have not tested these Ridge Grapplers in the snow but I know for a fact I will have to reduce the 36 psi (front) and 37 psi (rears) to something more like 32 psi all around. I can break traction from a dead stop on dry pavement.
    :burnrubber:

Others that have tested them in the snow have given them great reviews. I have a hunch we are going to get slammed in Maryland this winter so we will see.

But as far as buying them again......most definitely. They are smooth as butter and quiet as hell. They are not silent, but do not have that low pitched hum like the Duratracs. It's more like a semi truck tire sound at highway speeds (80ish). Under 55 and you can barely hear them. Open a window or put the radio on at a conversation volume and you won't hear them. Everyone that buys them likes them so far. I am one of them. I like these new Hybrid designs too. All Terrain characteristics with Mud Terrain tire looks.

Since my other commuter car is a hybrid I don't have to pinch pennies and run A/Ts to keep fuel costs low, so I run these.

Thank man. I'll actually pass this on to a buddy. He was trying to get either the gray(first choice) or gunmetal (second choice). I, myself, ordered the gunmetals but have still not received them.
