Thanks. I miss it. Sold in early 2015 because I never rode it. The past week or so I've been itching to give a similar treatment to my Harley...

I'm hoping its fairly idiot proof. I'm a complete noob with welding. Been watching youtube welding videos and it seem fairly simple. Going to be lots of practicing on scrap before i touch the truck with it.

Then for gloves I've been pretty happy with my "Vulcan" mig gloves from harbor freight, they fit better than my Tillmans I had, more comfortable and better constructed belive it or not.

Yeah, I'm pretty much over lead weights. The ones that clip on to edge of the rim get scraped off on rocks/tree roots/etc...and the stick-on ones get scrubbed off in the mud (or with the power washer if I'm not paying attention, haha). And that's on top of the clip-ons damaging the finish of the wheel and promoting corrosion. The airsoft beads seem to be not just a viable alternative, but a superior one, since they just seem to work better. Plus, you never have to have them rebalanced!

I'm running about 8oz of BB's in my tires, rides pretty smooth. Highly recommend it, put them in my motorcycle tires too, even larger improvement there.

i may need to upgrade my winch soon lol. put her through a good workout the other day and the end line crimp that connects to the spool came undone and we had to respool the damn thing like 3 times. my buddy got his suburban stuck in sugar sand while tracing fiber optics and i had to help pull him out. was all good until i got stuck lol, ended up winching myself and the suburban inch by inch until we finally hit solid ground. poor 9500lb winch pulled my 4300~ (i dont remember the exact weight) pound truck and a 6,000lb surburban. probably burned the motor up in the process....all the reason to upgrade and get a 12k winch and synthetic rope haha

If you don’t let them cool they will burn up. Should have unhooked and not let so much line out to pull the cable end out.

Or if needed use a recovery rope as last resort to reach something

i did let it sit periodically and not constantly run it, i just didnt like pulling as much weight as i did. but where we were at, i had to un spool as much as i could to get as far as we could. the end crimp came undone before it was unspooled all the way the way though. ive been impressed with this smittybilt 9500. its been beaten and worked so well. ill most likely take the 9500 off, get rid of the cable and put synthetic rope on and drop it on the 80 and get a 12k for the tacoma

In a situation like that, you need a good 20k lb capacity snatch block. You hook a strap (or two) up to your anchor point, hook the snatch block to the strap and the hook on the winch line to the shackle on your bumper and you double your winching strength (19,000 lbs of pull from a 9500 lb winch).

Ball joint spacers and lift blocks, am I doing it right?
One important thing to know. The chemical in the brake cleaner is Tetrachloroethylene. When this chemical is exposed with excessive heat and argon (used in MIG and TIG welding) it also produces phosgene. Phosgene is a deadly gas used in WW1. So don't use brake cleaner on anything you plan on welding. Acetone is safe though and can be used for a cleaner.

IDK if this has been discussed in here, but as an FSU fan, I’d love to hear some thoughts about who y’all think will end up as the Noles’ head coach.
