Bought 2017 OEM Bilsteins and Coil spring takeoffs from a Taco 4x4 off road. Put the rear shocks on and they seem fine, a little more responsive but not rough. Front end of my truck (an 05 Prerunner SR5) sits 3 inches lower than the rear as it sits now so I am thinking of a 2 inch spacer lift and replacing existing shocks and coils with the 2017 ones. Cross referenced Toyota Bilsteins and the showed they would work. Not sure about the springs as they are Progressive and are a larger diameter. Not used for off road too much, so I hoping for a level truck with minimal ride difference. Anybody done something similar? or am I in for a trainwreck

3rd gen coils alone will give you 1” lift and yes, they’ll fit fine. But you probably know that since you’re looking for an additional 2” spacer.

Did the rear shocks lift it at all you think?

Curious to see how it sits after you put the fronts on without spacers..

Shocks don’t provide lift on a leaf sprung vehicle. You need a block or different leaf pack/AAL for lift in the rear.

Put the shocks on with Hellwig helpers in the rear seemed to bring the back up about an inch. Havent heard of anyone trying 2017 coils on a 2nd gen. Im thinking they will be way to stiff

I just did this on my 05 TRD OR, no spacers, and I think the truck sits pretty level. I'll grab a picture in the morning so you can see how it looks.

There has been multiple threads with people doing just that, 3rd gen shocks and coils on a 2nd gen. That’s how you get the lift, it’s the coils not the shock.
