So, I just had my new A.R.E CX cap installed on my new 2017 Tacoma. I had ordered the cap with the trim. THEY had ordered the cap without the trim...and didn't tell me. I was later told that the truck beds since 2015 are somehow different now and that the mold for the A.R.E. caps will fit the truck bed (6' bed) but that the mold for the TRIM on the caps was NOT changed to adapt to caps since 2015, so now the installer typically does NOT have the trim put on the cap...the bottom edge trim that is an option when 'building your cap."
So, has anyone had problems with the bottom edge trim on their 2016 or greater A.R.E. cap, coming off at the rounded edges of the cap? I was told that is what happens...that the trim comes un-hinged from where it wraps around the bottom edges near the tailgate, and so my installer now typically doesn't get caps with the trim. Anyone??

I would like to know this too as I am thinking about ordering the ARE CX cap specifically because I like the trim around the bottom edge. In looking at Leer caps without trim, where they seem to fit down over the edges of the bed rails, it looks like there's too much space between the bed and the truck and the thinness of the Lear edge looks like it might be prone to chipping or cracking.

I'm thinking about getting the same shell with the trim. Has anyone had any problems with the trim coming off?
