cloth shopping bags

WTF are we going to do with all these cloth bags when the hemp crowd comes down from their high? Now that will be a landfill crisis!

 

Turn them into clothes and quilts! or make camper tops out of them

 

At least we can burn em!

 

Uh, actually not, because each cloth bag is resuable and replaces several million paper or plastic disposable bags over its lifetime?

yea, if everyone used them as designed. a reusable shopping bag, it would save TONS of plastic.

do I use them? no. should I? yes

 

I don't really give a crap. I reuse my plastic bags, Lunches, trashbags, They come in handy.

 

My problem is I would need like 20 of them. I go to the grocery store about once a month and spend atleast $150 in groceries just for my self which is a lot of bags. I re-use my plastic grocery bags to pick up dog poop and use them for trash bags in my little bathroom trash cans. Arguably this saves gas and carbon emissions from driving there everyday. The only exception is I go back to buy fruits, vegetables, and milk as needed.

 

I use em every week when we go shopping. The bastards that pack em at the store always way over fill em. Up here at Stop & Shop you get .05 for every one you use. I keep a few in my truck too incase we go to bj's or costco.

 

i use the cloth shopping bags and am DEFINITELY not a hippie. the amount of trash you are preventing is huge, the effort is minimal. and im not a fan of banning things, but plastic "penny bags" should actually be banned from use, there is no need for them. they are pure waste.

Don't get me wrong I am a tree hugger at heart. The real problem IMO is personal responsibilty of picking up stuff and reminding others to do the same. I thought I would get shot sooner or later - I used to make it a habit to throw trash back into peoples cars when I drove a motorcyle, bike and even my car. I personally think people are lazy. The paper and plastic bags ARE ALREDY RECYABLEß!!! People are making more laws when the law of personal responsibility would cure more ills than just bags!

 

My wife and I have about twenty of these reusable bags. The problem is remembering to take them. She keeps them in her car, so she has them all the time. I always run into the grocery store on the way home but don't have the bags on me. Oh well, we try. The plastic ones are needed for the cat crap in the litter box anyway, so that's my excuse for using the plastic bags.

 

Check the labels...maybe their made of hemp.

 

The cloth bags allow me to save the plastic bags for suffocating my enemies.

 

This is just like the guns kill people argument - people kill people. I've handled/owned my entire life. Not one of the people I have killed were through the use of a gun!

Same here....cept the dog poop part.

I never have to buy small garbage bags ever. I hate going to the store, so I go less often on purpose!!

 

Don't worry, you will be buying small bags in the future. You will use them just as you use the current bags but they will be thicker (more material) and they will come in cardboard packaging and will result in the same amount of plasic in our lives and in our landfills and will contibute just as much or more to the 'greenhouse gases!'
