When you mounted the radio head, did you use the screw that was provided? I'm trying to come up with a way that allows for quick removal. Maybe just a thumb screw.

I mounted the radio head to the bracket with the included screw, then mounted the bracket to the underside of the ATRAC controls with industrial strength Velcro. You can snag it from Walmart, Home Depot, etc.

How have your 6112's settled over time? Debating if I want to set them on the 2nd or 3rd notch for a level look (4 leaf rear). Might start out at the 2nd and move to the 3rd after the springs break in.

 

At #3 the truck sits dead level if not the slightest bit nose high on level ground. That's with the factory 4 leaf rear. I'll still end up adding a 3 leaf AAL in the future to bring a little rake back, but just haven't needed to yet. Still enjoying the ride on everything.

Snagged a set of SOS Concepts sliders during the 4th anniversary sale back in October. Took about 6 weeks to get them, and another 6 weeks to finally get them installed. Battled the cold and weather, but finally got them primed, painted, and installed.


After a cleaning with acetone and paint thinner, I coated them with 2 coats of Rustoleum Self Etching primer, 3 coats of Rustoleum Protective Enamel Flat Black, and topped them with 2 coats of Semi-Gloss. Time will tell how tough the finish is, but the final outcome looked really nice.


Install was about as straightforward as possible. Other than the forward 2 bolts on the driver's side, everything went on quick and lined up perfectly.

 

Had the wife mention the sliders being too slippery and awkward to step on when it's wet outside (we've been getting rain here at least once a week for the past month).

I snagged some 3M Brand 2" Grip Tape from Home Depot and installed 4, 9.5" long strips just in front of the driver & passenger cross bars on the sliders. This is pretty close to the position of the steps on the Predator bars I used to have on here. Gives a good non-slip surface to put a foot on. Also the tape is far enough forward that it doesn't rub the back of your leg when sliding out of the truck.

Not a bad $12 upgrade IMO. They've held up to sub-freezing temps and rain with no issues so far.

Man LBL looks awesome, but that's a bit far. AOP is a definite possibility and a bit further out to plan for. I may be able to swing that one.

 

Finally got the rear LED pods wired up. Pulled power from the trailer harness reverse wire and ground.

These are just Amazon special 2x3 LED pods but they are crazy bright. I actually had to aim them higher up than expected because the bright light was making the backup camera too washed out. Got them dialed in and love the outcome.

 

Took a trip up to the Clayton / Helen area a couple of weeks ago. Just now got around to getting the pictures uploaded.

It was just a one-night trip (Sat-Sun) so didn't get to do quite as much wheeling as I'd hoped for, but still got to run Charlie's Creek and part of Tray Mountain that was still open. Found an awesome spot by the Tallulah River and hammock camped for the night.

























Awesome trip. Already can't wait to go back.

I absolutely will! The spot we go to is just across the border into NC, and doesn't have any camp fees or anything. We'll likely go again in about 3-4 months I'll be sure to let you know. It'd be awesome to have some company and I know a few trails in that area we could run as well.

Post Installation Report: Icon 3-Leaf AAL (Installed with 48,100 on the ODO)

So the 3-Leaf AAL has been a long time coming. About 6 months ago I started noticing that my factory 3+1 leaf pack was making the rear of the truck look a little sad. On level ground there was a noticeable 1/2" or so of negative rake (bro lean). With the help of quite a few TW friends, we removed the overload and installed the leaf pack at the end of August.



Disappointingly, my post-lift measurements weren't quite what I was hoping for. I rode around on the kit for about a week to see what would happen, but the rear end sat firmly planted at 22" hub to fender... only 1/2" higher than where it was stock. Icon was gracious enough to admit the ride height could be an issue with the AAL pack, and sent me a replacement AAL. GREAT customer service. Swapped the AAL pack out over the weekend.

Unfortunately, the replacement pack from Icon didn't really help me gain anything so I'm at 22.5" at the rear hub to fender. I'm still not at the 23" - 23.5" I was hoping to be at. Long story short: my 2015 stock leaf pack is already a problem at only 45k miles.

Now I'm debating on whether or not to rip everything out and replace the entire leaf pack with a Dakar Medium, or give the configuration one more convincing push by re-installing the factory overload.

The end goal of all of this is to eventually be able to support the weight of a RTT and bed rack in the near future. I'm having a lot of doubts right now.

With all of that being said, my impression on the 3-Leaf Icon pack is that it rides great. The rear suspension is a lot less bouncy, more plush over big jolts, and even with the overload gone I manage to hit the bump stops less. It is a very noticeable improvement over the stock leaf pack configuration.

Now I get to debate on what to do from here.

 

Allpro standard or expo leaf pack? (I’m running the standard pack currently. I’ve had no issues but I do wish I went with the expo with the HC bumper and 35” on the swing out).
