There are 5 major conferences tho...

 

OSU got their ass beat by a low level team, that’s why they didn’t make the cut. USC has an argument for being there as well.

Until they expand it to 8 teams, someone will always be left out. A #9 team will never have a realistic chance, but this year 5, 6 & 7 are possible contenders.

Yes there are 5 power conferences. 4 spots. So how much sense does it make for a team that can't even win there conference to be in it? I said it last year about Ohio state.

Year in and year out the conference strengths change. Somebody has somebody's number. The only true best way to find the best teams is to literally take the teams that win conferences. 6 is all it needs to be. The 5 power 5 winners and the highest ranked not power 5 team. I don't care if the conference winner was a 3 loss team, maybe their conference was way more difficult, who knows?

All I know is it makes no sense to put a team in that finishes 2nd or 3rd in their conference.

This is not an argument just against bama either.

 

And Alabama was man handled by an Auburn team that got their ass beat by Georgia three weeks after Auburn beat Georgia's ass. It's never going to be fair but to leave a team out that won a conference championship doesn't make sense. So basically at this point in time you don't even have to play in a conference championship. Just make sure your schools name has history and you're in.

 

I believe Au will be in champs next year !!

Alabama didn’t lose their conference, just didn’t make it in, as AU and UA were both 1 loss teams in conference. AU beat UA, therefore represented the West inspire of being a 2 loss team.

Winning a Conference Championship plays a factor in the selection, but doesn’t guarantee it either. I don’t agree with the system, but it’s better than the previous method.

By going to 8 teams, it allows for the top 5 champions, plus 3 others who earned the right. ND isn’t part of a conference, but still made it in during previous years.

 

Had UA lost another game, they wouldn’t be where they’re at. Wisconsin was another one left out with a 1 loss record, but there is no way they would top OSU after last night.

No one wants to hear it, but UA was the right choice.

 

I'm not saying UA wasn't the right choice per the explanations of how they choose. "The 4 best teams". Now if auburn had won the seccg, and everything else fell the same, I would've been really irritated bama made it since a team that already proved to be better was in.

I am never a supporter of rematch games, and that was before the LSU alabama rematch. The best it ever does is give a 1-1 record so it doesn't prove who is better. It's stupid.

 

What i don't understand is alabama being 1 in the fpi? They aren't 1 in anything really.

Makes the fpi pointless to me. The comparison chart of Clemson and alabama on the selection show showed how far ahead Clemson is resume wise over alabama and somehow they aren't 1 in the fpi?

 

If AU would have won yesterday, they’d be ranked #2 and in the playoff.

 

It’s all money with the established FBS. The only real fix is switch to the FCS system.

Yes, but like I said had auburn won and bama made it i would completely disagree with the methodology. You should not make it along with the team you lost to, you've already proven they were better.

 

Which is why Wisconsin didn't make the cut above OSU.

The system is flawed, but $$ won't allow another more Bowl Games go toward the playoff system.

 

You're right. It's why I have lost interest in football as the years go on. Always disliked NFL for the money, college is getting worse and worse
