Getting my rear TSB done today. Anything I should know.

Hey there well i'm getting my rear TSB done today at Virginia Beach Checkered Flag Toyota and I was wondering if there is anything that I should know before I get it done. I know that I should keep the old parts if I can. Anything else guys. Thanks.

 

After the springs are installed your headlights will point lower. You should think about some 5100 billies to level off the front.

 

Ya thanks for reminding me about the headlights. Ill have to do those once it gets dark tonight. Ya im def thinking about getting some from DownSouth MotorSports for a good price. I was thinkin about putting them at 2". What do you think.

 

I got mine set at the 1.75, I've heard others go to the 2+ but some say that you might have an alignment problem and that the UCA's might have to be changed out. You might look at some of the other posts on TW.

 

That looks good like that. Did you have to do anything after you put the shocks on?

 

Just the re-alignment on the front end because of the struts removal. Also, some say that the new springs will give you a stiffer ride but I didn't notice it. But most members seem to agree that the spring replacement is worth it. By the way when you get your tsb done check the spring pack, because some TW members reported that their dealers made a mistake and re-installed the old 3 leaf pack back on.

Alright. Ill be sure to get it re aligned after I put them in. Ya i've also heard of that happending. Ill be sure to inspect it all after I get it done.

 

Hopefully they get done it right on my dealer too, I'm getting it done at crown toyota at ontario.

I had a problem with the shop not doing my alignment, as the TSB states. My original work order referenced the correct TSB number, but the actual worksheet had a different TSB, i believe for the squeaky spring, and didn't include the alignment. so I had to go back and get my free alignment.... which I needed b/c i had added 5100s a day prior to the TSB swap.

 

Oh well thanks. but I was talking about after I put on hte 5100's.

 

x2...my thoughts exactly....inspect everything be sure to drive off with 4 leaf springs, my dealer installed the three "new" and improved leafs, and they tryed to convence me, but I knew better thanks to everyone here!!

 

I'm getting mine done at the end of the month, and didn't really know this was the norm. Getting the old springs that is. So people that have had this done typically get their old springs back.

 

Not all the time. Sometimes the dealer will say that they have to return it to the factory for some reason. But sometimes you'll be able to hang on to them.

 

Im jealous! I bought my truck used and it is out of warranty and doesn't have the rear TSB done

That's why I'm pissed haha, I want a free lift. That and I hear the TSB only nets like 0.5" - 1.0" after settling and thats all I want....well at least for right now.

 

well once i get this done then just trade me trucks. not. lol

 

I will not own another black car for a while, couldn't keep my last one clean here in AZ...so I guess I'll let you keep yours.
