So what's going on guys? I've got a question or two about audio - which I know absolutely nothing about.

What are a lot of guys running to get some more sound throughout the truck?

I'm not interested in bass by the way - makes my head hurt.

    Thanks in advance!

    Trevor

You can swap in Subaru Forester kicker tweeters. They are a direct swap.

I went with JL C2-650x both up front and in the back with a JL JX400/4D 4-channel amp and Dynamat on all 4 doors. There's still enough low-end to know there's bass without the "thump" of a big bass driver. That may be enough for you if you aren't looking for thumpin' bass. At some point, I plan on doing the tweeters.

I have finally gotten around to getting replacement speakers for all the stock ones.

I picked up some Hertz Speakers: ECX-690.5's (6x9s) and EXC-165.5's (6.5s). I also have some Clarion 1.75" tweeters I'm going to replace the dash ones with.

I realized I needed custom mounts and harness for the tweeters which I ordered last week from ********* + I ordered mounts and harnesses from Amazon for the speakers.

I was planning on doing an amp and sub (etc) but I think I'm actually going to do a new headunit first but i'm waffling on that for now.

Just swapped mine out today (super easy to do) and damn what a difference! Have the other (4) kickers mentioned in this post coming.

Very - 10mm socket and wrench and a non-marring pry tool and about 15 minutes. Watched a youtube video on how to replace them. BTW easiest way (the way I did it) to get the bolt near the windshield out is loosen it with the wrench then place a short socket on it and spin the socket with your fingers, once it's loose it comes out easy. If you didn't get the Premium sound option - which I didn't - I would highly recommend this swap.

I put in the kicker tweeters plus all 4 door speakers. Totally worth the cost and fairly simple. There’s a thread detailing everything you need.

    Not enough...
Check out Crutchfield. They have super nice guides laying out exactly what fits and what does not. What pigtails you need, etc. And then go and buy shit on Amazon for cheaper.

As far as brands, I would, personally, go with Clarion, Alpine, Focal, Infinity.... or Pioneer, Kenwood as cheaper options.

Check out the audio forum. There is good info and how to videos there. I replaced mine with Subaru tweeters and kickers on the doors. About 250. Worth it. Semper Fi BTW.

For the money and small time investment, can't be beat - ~$250 installed and when there are deals on Crutchfield it's actually cheaper to buy from them b/c it includes mounts and all.

I was frustrated with the stock system and almost ordered this but decided to try the Kicker speaker upgrade first.

    OEM+ is $1500

I got 4 kicker door speakers shipped from Crutchfield for $108.00 on sale and got the Kicker Tweeters from Amazon For $50.00 because I had an Amazon gift card. Figured I would see if $160 would make me happy before spending $1500 lol They should be here tomorrow o we will see!
