I believe the dremel tools have an adapter that make extends and is flexible, smaller too, to hold in your hand. Yeah the brushes suck bawls cuz they wear out quick. I was able to clear away the old gaskets material w/o removing the oil pans paint but I had to use multiple brushes.

Is it a bad idea to break it apart and clean it and paint. Might make the rebuild easier?

I got it as close I could with the drill, will finish up with the dremel to get it better. As far as im concerned it doesnt need to be perfect since I will be painting them.

upload_2017-12-4_12-20-42.jpg Not today, over the Thanksgiving weekend I replaced the heater core, i hope to God i never have to do that again. Local dealer wanted $492.00 for just the heater core, i got the heater core, valve and hoses for just under $250 and saved probably $850 to $1000 on labor.

Does anyone know if the front differential and transfer case drain & fill plugs have crush gaskets I need to replace? Same for the transmission drain plug.

Everything you mentioned should need new gaskets/washers. Here's what I order for mine when I need to do the drain and fill maintenance (2002 V6 4WD):

    12157-10010 - 2 for rear diff drain/fill, 1 for front diff fill

    90430-24003 - 1 for front diff drain

    90430-A0003 - 2 for transfer case drain/fill

35178-30010 - Auto trans drain plug

No problem. Just make sure you get the gaskets for your application (I have no clue if they are the same part numbers or not).

I used Amsoil's Severe Gear 75w-90 for the f/r diffs and the transfer case. Then Amsoil's ATF for the transmission.

I ordered off of Amazon, I think it was toyota of springfield. My local toyota wanted like 10-20% more for everything.

Replacing all the seals on my front diff. Do I need to replace the companion flange oil seal or am I fine without doing so?

So far I'm replacing the oil seals on the FR axle tube and the FL axle input.

No. All that is is basically a dirt shield to keep big stuff away from the pinion seal.

I've done a mod or two
Haha that looks familiar, once you've done it a couple times it's not that bad. The first one blows though, on the bright side after the second you can get the dash off in like 15mins.

Also @BartMaster1234 DON'T mess with the pinion side of the diff, if it is dry or barely just seeping just leave it alone. Messing with the preload and lash isn't worth it just to replace a seal that's probably fine.

It gave me that plus 3 or 4 other ailments before it was over with, LOL. I got it all buttoned back up, hooked up the neg. battery cable and now the radio and my LED bumper, ditch, bed and rear lights don't work, the only that i know i did not reconnect is the cigarette lighter thinking I never use it so why worry about it, I'm thinking those items must have picked up power from there. I have ordered a 1st gen din switch plate from Paranoid Fabrications because i could not get the switches to fit back in place the way they were before i tore all of that shit out of there. I will try to figure out the lack of power when i put the new switch plate in, hopefully its just a matter of plugging the cig lighter back in.

    You should check with @gunny1005

I ordered through him and he was able to get the same parts for less.

Gotcha. Any other seals I should replace before I swap everything? I'm doing the rear main seal while I have the tranny off.
