I'll throw my opinion in here as well, since I've been building and installing my assemblies since 2011.

Dorman does make a prebuilt assembly. They are NOT made with Koyo bearings, and if a seller is saying that they are, then be VERY wary. I bought one of their assemblies and disassembled it because I had some questions from customers. What I found was that they used a generic, cheap bearing that was NOT heat treated. Heat treated bearing assemblies are indicated by the bluing of the steel at the point of heat treating. It is a somewhat expensive process, and the reason Koyo bearings are more expensive than the cheap ones on eBay, in many cases.

As for why my units are priced at $175 each, I use only authentic Koyo bearings, Timken seals, Toyota bolts and o-ring, and each unit is cleaned of the generic, cheap bearing grease, and filled with Valvoline high temperature, high pressure bearing grease designed for this specific application. (sealed, no greasable bearing) I also am the only one that offers a 2 year, 24k mile warranty on all units. I have less than a 0.01% failure rate. (yes, that is 1 in 1000 units that see warranty claim in 2 years.)

As they say, you get what you pay for. Do you want to use cheap products that have a minimal warranty (typically 90 days on ebay bearings) or do you want one that I am so confident in, that I offer the best warranty around?

I'm looking at it. Weighing the benefits of having a lifetime warranty if I buy new, versus the savings in buying used 2nd gen.

Not sure how this thread is going...but I will chime in as I have my own personal experience.

I bought a set of assemblies from nj back in DEC 2014 for my truck. 4 years and approximately 75,000 miles later it rides as smooth as the day I bolted it on. No...I am not a rock crawler, but I do not swerve for potholes, I do not shy from jeep trails or mud; I have been known to go places where I have had to throw it in 4x4 at speeds of 60mph in salt sprayed deep snow, I don't hesitate to drive through deep water. It just literally keeps going.

...and that's all I've got to say about that...

Thanks. I do appreciate it. I hate seeing these cheap knockoffs on eBay from people who have no experience in these things and just want to make a buck.

FYI folks, the Dorman hub 930-403, that most vendors, including TW, uses for the Taco wheel bearing assemblies is not the hub listed in Dorman's catalog for our Tacos. I don't know that it ever was, but I used it myself once with no problems. However, should the part fail and lead to an accident, Dorman may avoid liability by claiming the car owner installed the wrong part #. The correct hub, per Dorman's catalog, is 930-107 (it's almost 3X the price of the 403). A couple years back I emailed Dorman's and asked them what the difference in the hubs was; their only reply was that the 107 hub is the correct part # for my truck, a 2007 4X4. I'm using DuraGo hubs and bearings, part 29596058.

You proved my point for the 05-09 Tacomas; they are not on that list (OP has an 05).
