Does anyone know if there is any difference between the 4 WD in an SR5 and the 4WD in an Off Road Package truck? I am trying to build 2018 SR5 4x4 truck and so far can find no differences in the 4 WD except SR5 does not have the crawl featuure. Spring rates and towing numbers are all the same . I don't know about the locking differntials.
Does anyone know of any other differences besides this?

    Thanks for any help.....

Besides the crawl and terrain setting feature, locking/limited slip dif it also comes with Bstien shocks, skid plates, different rims and tires and sweet stickers on the rear fenders

I believe the rear diff is bigger for the automatics?

Different power assist for the brakes in the offroad. Check to see if the offroad is now standard with the tow package? Offroad have rubber floor mats too?

If you compare the price difference between the two the offroad is a bargain in comparison if you actually go offroad.

The TRD Offroad comes with the newer larger ring gear, the crawl, Bilstien Shocks, Kevlar Tires on Aluminum Wheels and most importantly, the Locking Rear Diff.

The SR5 comes with the older style ring gear, and eLSD..... eLSD is electronic Limited Slip Differential, which is a fancy way of saying that it is a pure open differential, but uses the breaks to provide resistance to the slipping tire thereby pushing power to the tire that has the better traction. IMO, they shouldn't call it a limited slip differential.

Either will work fine for 99% of your uses, but the locking rear diff might come in handy once in a blue moon. If I could go back and choose again, I'd opt for the Offroad, but in reality, I probably don't really miss it.

Manuals get it, and TRD Offroads get it even if it has the Auto.

Oh yes, another plus for the Offroad. This gives you somewhere to mount an air compressor or dual battery that the other trucks don't have.

I mean automatic TRD-ORs have the same size as the manuals vs automatic Sports.

If you don’t plan on building an off road truck that you use as a daily, get the OR. If you require something more hard use that you’re gonna be spec’ing out, get the SR. All that stuff is coming out anyway and an air locker is probably going in.

Thanks for all the replies/info guys. I plan to lift the truck and put tires on the stock TRD wheels that I order with it as soon as I get it. Shocks don't matter because they will be taken off anyway. Toyota says the skid plates come on the 4x4 truck but, I don't trust them. I think the biggest issue is the locking differential because I don't really care about the stickers or a power rear window. The difference in price for the two trucks equipped with the same options is $1700. That price includes ordering tow package for the sr5 that comes standard on the off road. Not a fortune but I can put the money towards the lift and tires.
ONE MORE QUESTION...Is that 8.75 the one that they put in the 2013-2015 PreRunners?

    Thanks for the Help....
