The voice in your head is associated with meaning of words, maybe they just think of actions/connotations of a word

 

but in what "voice/sound/language/whatever" do they think of those actions/connotations?!

there isn't an answer to this so stop trying.

 

Dude there doesn’t have to be a voice. You’re associating your learned behaviors with that of a person who’s never had the sense

 

there has to be "something" I'm not saying it has to be a voice, but it's something. deaf people can "speak" it just isn't something we can understand because they can't hear the sounds they are speaking.

 

Chris is actually right on this. We think in the way we communicate. There isnt a voice in someones head who has never heard a voice, much like how a baby doesnt have fully developed english thoughts because it doesnt understand/hasnt been exposed to them.

Right, the part of the brain responsible for that speech is in your temporal lobe. The part of the brain that produces speech is called the Wernicke’s area and the part that’s responsible for speaking is Broca’s area. The voice in your head lies somewhere between these two sections, not everyone has an internal voice like that. If you damage your Wernicke’s area you lose your inner voice. Psychology 101

No, but if they’ve never heard what a voice sounds like. This is assuming complete deafness by the way

They think in terms of sign/visuals. Deaf people don’t have the knowledge to have an inner voice.

 

the signs/visual are the inner voice. you and EJ are caught up on "voice". I never said it has to be "words" but it has to be "something"

they have inner voices, inner voices are how you think. they can/do think.

 

Right, didn’t claim they didn’t have a thought processing system/ “inner voice”. I don’t think we disagree, it just isn’t auditory like it is for those of us who can hear

 

I again never said it was auditory, but it's something. Obviously you can't hear my inner voice, but I "hear" it even though it isn't making a sound.

 

Right, because your Wernicke’s area has produced it in your temporal lobe but your Broca’s area has not produced it into speech production
