I am trying to decide on which seat covers to get for my truck. I’ve got two kids both in car seats one is three and the other is three months old so I’m looking to get something that is going to protect against spills, puke, and other bodily fluids that little kids manage to get everywhere. Ive come down to either the carhartt or clazzio seat covers as the two I like the looks of the best. I like the carhartt ease of removal and the ability to machine wash but I really like just the overall look and ability to customize the clazzio. I know clazzio is pretty popular around here but can anyone speak to how well they hold up to car seats? And do they get super hot in the summer? Also if anyone has experience with the durability of the carhartt or any other brand I may not know about I’d appreciate some commentary on those as well.

Well I have had my Clazzios for about half a year and I love them. I would buy them again in a heartbeat. They are the ONLY covers that look like oem leather seats.

As for how they would hold up with a car seat, I can't answer that, my youngest is in a booster seat and it does fine.

What I will say is that in previous vehicles I have always placed a folded bath towel under my kid's car seats and it has protected the seats. If you do this on the Clazzios they should hold up fine.

Oh and they get hot in the NC summer just like any other leather seats but not to the point where my kids couldn't sit on them.

I had Clazzio's in my 16' tacoma. I liked them, but they didn't hold up as well as I was hoping. The car seats made indentations in the leather inserts. Also what I pulled them off before I traded in my truck, the clazzios made a bunch of creases in the head rests. I just installed the Carhartt's in my 17' tacoma and so far I love them. I like that I can remove them to wash. They seem like they are going to hold up great, though it is too soon to talk about longevity. I like the Carhartt seat covers way more. My vote goes to the Carhartt especially with kids and car seats.

I have an almost 4 year old and a 6 month old. I also have a full set of Clazzios in black. The Clazzios are awesome. They are comfy and clean up from dog fur 1000x easier than the fabric seats, but they are not waterproof. I put our infant in the middle and the kiddo behind my seat, and both of their seats have these underneath them: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00QHO2SLM/ to block wet spills.

The Clazzios block spills for a while, but they're not designed for that. That's especially important when your toddler pees out his diaper, or decides to leave his water bottle upside down during a road trip and drops like 8oz of apple juice into your seats. You find it 2 hours later at a rest stop, swear quietly enough that the sticky little beast doesn't hear, and then clean up, being glad you have an actual waterproof layer preventing the sticky disaster from seeping through the Clazzios into the fabric seats.

We were fortunate enough to learn this lesson early on when our oldest just had water in his cup, instead of during some sticky catastrophe. I got the waterproof covers, and it's never been a problem since. The water did seep through the Clazzios though, so I had to remove them, and let the truck dry.

Bottom line: Don't count on the Clazzios for water immersion prevention.

    Man, do I feel cheap.

I put old, clean towels on the fronts and a 6' x 8' harbor freight tarp in the back.

Love my carhartts, easy to wash, pretty cheap and rugged. I never worry about them. Besides my bed mat it’s the best mod I have for my truck

I have the Carhartts in grey. Truthfully, I would not buy them again. They decrease the comfort of what is already not the most confotable seat. The fabric is exactly what you think it is.....rough scratchy canvas. Although it seems like a “tough truck” choice, which is what appealed to me, I’ve discovered on very long off-road trips that there is something to be said for smooth and soft seats. Sure the Carhartts may be durable, but you can’t wipe them down, and they start to look grungy after a while, and the surface isn’t nice to your back or butt. If your shirt creeps up and your lower back rubs against the Carhartt canvas for a few hours.....not fun. I suppose I could remove them and wash them, but again, who needs that.

It’s counter intuitive, but I actually feel the leather is the better choice for long-term durability and comfort, even in an off-road situation.

These are really all the reasons why I went Carhartt. Of course I only got the cover for the backseat because I couldn't care less about the comfort of a seven year old and a dog...

i have the carhartt covers in grey. I love them. They are tough and no frills. I carry a gun every day concealed and it ripped up my old trucks seats. The carhartts are now 4-5 months old and look brand new. The clazzios or w/e are for the folks who want to feel fancy in their 30k trucks. SUBJECTIVE WARNING: IMO the carhartts match the truck better, purpose built and hard working. not perfect but built well and will last.
