Ok maybe someone here can help with a concern I have with vibration. Just install 6112 front 5160 back Dakar leaf. Carrier bearing drop rear 3 degree axles shims and ecgs bushing. I have a vibration 18-28 in 2wd or 4x4. Truck has NOT been aligned yet doing it in the morning. Could this cause the vibration? Front is 2.75 inches higher right now. Back is level with front.

Did you have vibes before the shims and drop kit? The drop kit could be contributing as well as the shims.

I added the 3 degree axle shim and cb drop during the install. I plan getting a angle gauge tonight. Maybe I should take the cb drop and test it first? Only takes a few mins.

While normally pre-planning is good you shouldn’t correct for vibes you may not have ever had. Can definitely check the the CB drop but I have a feeling it’s the 3 degree shims. Might need to put in 1-2 degree shims.

In my case. I have a 3” lift and have no vibes with no CB and no shims. So it can vary greatly.

Not what I wanted to hear. But at least I know where to start. If accelerate little faster then normal 0 vibrations. The slower I accerate the more it vibrates.

Are most people replacing the cv axle seal while they are in there too? Also looking to buy or rent the tool to remove the old bearing. I'm located in Virginia

I’m sure some have not and some have. Personally, when it comes to seals I always replace with new. Not to mention I destroyed it during the removal process. Doesn’t hurt to replace it and if stock is still good, you have a spare.

When I replaced the rear pack I researched and almost pulled the trigger on shims. Most shims were bolted with the pack and I didn’t want to have to pull the packs again to add shims.

I read that shims contributed at times to vibes and decided not worth adding something that may not be needed. Luckily it worked out. That said I only considered 1 degree and 2 tops.

I did not change my seal. My truck was pretty new yet. It’s good. I keep looking down there for a leak though. I did buy a new seal at the time. Now it sits on my parts shelf just in case.

Is the CV Axle Seal required for the install?

I'm having a shop complete the install and want to ensure I provide all the needed parts.

    Thx.

It’s $20. It was worth it to not have to worry about it.

Very awesome. Glad you found the problem!!

It happens to the best of us. I have a bad habit of changing seals and forgetting to pull out the old ones. Lol.
