We had to remove his spare tire winch, then drill two bolt holes.

@Lurkin is running a sway bar in the rear IIRC

Well I know one pretty simple way to improve cornering on just about any vehicle is to make it lower... Id say for your price point buy the tundra racing lowering kit and install that and then when you can afford to get some light 17 or 18" wheels, and go with undersized rubber. One of the biggest things you can do out of the box to make this truck feel faster and quicker is used undersized wheels, its almost like regearing except going about it the opposite way.

One thing to think about that would be a cheap way to get this truck dialed in is things like tire pressure, and alignment which without a doubt effect the way the vehicle handles. For best grip on track you probably wanna start at like 28/29 PSI front and 30 in the rear since these trucks are way heavier in front so those will heat faster. Ideal tire pressure is 32 degrees when fully warm (about 180-200*).

As far as alignment is concerned, the truck comes with essentially 0 camber, 0 toe, 2.5-2.8 caster. Thats bogus. For a no sway bar setup, -1.2-1.5 camber is fine, no toe or slightly toed out for better dive in in corners, and finally you would WANT to get caster around 4.0 if not higher so that you get increased camber gain while cornering (read: as the suspension compresses, the outside wheel will want to lean back to 0 camber while the inside wheel gets up to about -3.0 degrees camber, which is fine in this case because there is very little weight on this wheel at that point).

I'm ordering a rear sway bar as well but this seemed more important imo. I wouldve liked to retain the use of the spare tire but for now its ok. The plate you bolt up to the cross member is thick. Honestly the subframe should fail before this brace does. And the weld's were awesome.

It made a nice improvement on the track. I myself am looking forward to getting kings and total chaos lower control arms.

That's gonna be a nice setup! And yeah I love my alignment numbers after getting the UCAs definitely made performance driving much more predictable

I picked up XII performance sways with tundra racing mount kit from fellow member hirod . Works great . Pic also with full length helwigs.
Also running 285- 50- 20 on 4runner limited replicas with the TR lower kit.

Thanks for all the replys everyone. Good info.

@Lucario Runner WOW that is a nice alignment I wish I had your mechanic near me. I had it aligned at oem specs last time around but yeah I will go in there again to get some camber and max out the caster. I didn't like the shop that I was at so I didn't try to have them do anything fancy. I'll bring it to the shop that did my Supra soon. I know it needs more camber and caster, but yeah the wheels/tires helped tremendously. I don't want to downsize though. I know the benefits are there in effectively regearing but I don't like the look. I also don't really want to lower it..

If I wanted to go crazy with the look, I would actually love to get some control arms from a LT kit, lower it about 2 inches on QA1s or something and get some of the LT bedsides and quarter panels and get a wide-body look sorta going. But thats a 5K trip down suspension road I'm not ready for. Especially when Gadget is gearing up for a twinscrew blower kit...

@hemitruk Oh so you've got hirod's old setup. nice! This is exactly what I'm going for. I have the TR kit but I'm waiting on XII to stock another sway kit. They barely answer but once I got them to text me back one time and they said they'd have more around new years.

Also - I like the defined engineering brace. Although I have a mod over at XRU who's willing to sell me an X Brace for shipping expense. Just waiting for him to box it up.

Once I get my sways on I'll re-update.

I only picked up the sway bars from hirod .
I emailed definded engineering about the brace and they can make it to fit the TR kit . The TR kit shackle bolts onto stock Tacoma one so the brace were it bolts onto spring mount needs to be a little shorter. Think I might be ordering soon .Need to give them the measurements.
    Pic shows TR shackle
@RedLantern brace is $300 shipped to Hawaii
